The hypocrisy, lies and unlawfulness surrounding the execution of Gaddafi have gone too far, it points to a brutal, corrupt, despotic, vicious and murderous abuse of power. I find it hard to stomach the statements of Western leaders about Gaddafi’s “crimes” as they gloat over the televised brutal murder of some man in Libya.


British Prime Minister David Cameron said that day was:

“a day to remember all of Gaddafi’s victims, from those who died in connection with the Pan Am flight over Lockerbie, to Yvonne Fletcher in a London Street, and obviously all of the victims of IRA terrorism who died through their use of Libyan Semtex. We should also remember the many Libyans who died at the hands of this brutal dictator and his regime.”

Omitted from the end of Cameron’s statement was “and we should also remember that I’m lying through my teeth.”


The bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie Scotland was clearly a false-flag operation designed to demonize Libya. It must be noted that Libya has never accepted responsibility for the bombing of Flight 103, but instead paid compensation to the families to “buy peace” in order to allow for the reintegration into the Western elite.


The murder of Police Constable Yvonne Fletcher in St. James’ Sq. London, April 1984; Blamed on Libya, was in fact as was supported by a wealth of evidence shot by a CIA/MI6 operative in an effort to, again, demonize Libya.


The “victims of IRA terrorism” through the use of Libyan Semtex is baseless because  on a few occasions, the IRA leadership did successfully bought Libyan weapons and also all major IRA attacks that involved the death of civilians were allegedly the work of British intelligence.


This just gives you a small insight into the lengths to which Western governments and “intelligence agencies’ have gone (and are prepared to go) to “protect their interests’. With the mainstream media bought and paid for; global corporate, fascist domination is a done deal unless we all wake up to the reality of the situation and start calling it for what it is - bullshit, through and through.

Libya, which was producing 1.6 to 1.7 million barrels of oil daily before the conflict, is a coveted market for many countries that are also eyeing potentially massive contracts for rebuilding its infrastructure. One such country is the United States of America who has already indicated its interest in setting up businesses there, pointing to the fact that the new government would be Pro-American.

France also will be seek a leading role in post-war Libya, Defense Minister Gerard Longuet said in an interview, arguing that Libya’s new leaders “owe” Paris for leading the campaign to oust Muammar Gaddafi. As a matter of fact everyone will throw their hat into the ring.

The US had hoped that the deposed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi will either be killed or taken prisoner. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made this point clear during an unannounced visit to Tripoli. This was in complete contradiction to the policy of US officials who had made calls only to bring Gaddafi to justice for his crimes.

Gaddafi’s body was photographed with a bullet hole in the head as the countrymen he allegedly oppressed for 42 years rejoiced at their hard-won freedom.

The 69-year-old former leader’s last day on earth began with a migration from his home city of Sirte as rebel forces closed in on him.

But as he and his supporters fled across the desert in a massive convoy of about 80 vehicles, they were caught by a devastating strike from the air.

First a precision guided missile fired from a US unmanned drone slammed into the convoy.

Then French Mirage fighter jets — part of the Nato force protecting Libyan civilians — swooped to pound the loyalist supporters with bombs.

British Tornado planes were also overhead, providing reconnaissance back-up.

Gaddafi was protected in a special heavily-armoured truck packed with communications equipment.

But he was wounded in both legs in the onslaught and up to 50 of his men were killed.

Gaddafi and a handful of survivors turned back towards Sirte and were said to have run towards some huge drainage pipes. Rebel Saleem Bakeer was among a group of rebels hot on Gaddafi’s trail.

He said: “At first we fired at them with anti-aircraft guns, but it was no use. Then we went in on foot. One of Gaddafi’s men came out waving his rifle in the air and shouting ‘surrender’ — but as soon as he saw my face he started shooting. Then I think Gaddafi must have told them to stop”.

“My master is here, my master is here. Muammar Gaddafi is here and he is wounded”.

“We went in and brought Gaddafi out. He was saying, ‘What’s wrong? What’s wrong? What’s going on? Then we took him and put him in the car.”

Another fighter, Ahmed Al Sahti, 27, said: “Gaddafi called us rats, but look where we found him — in a stinking drainage pipe.”

The dramatic minutes leading up to Gaddafi’s death were chaotic, violent and gruesome - as testified by the grainy mobile phone footage seen by the world of the former leader, bloodied and dazed, being dragged along by NTC fighters.

Gaddafi was still alive when he was captured but he already had blood streaming down the side of his face and a wound close to his left ear very shortly after he had been seized.

Government fighters hauled him onto the bonnet of a Toyota pick-up truck with the intention of getting him through the crowd of fellow fighters and to an ambulance parked about 500 meters away.

Gaddafi can be heard in one video saying “God forbids this” several times as slaps from the crowd rain down on his head.

“This is for Misrata, you dog,” said one man slapping him.

“Do you know right from wrong?” Gaddafi says.

“Shut up! you dog,” someone replies as more blows rain down.

Another video shows Gaddafi being heaved off the bonnet of the truck and dragged towards a car, then pulled down by his hair. “Keep him alive, keep him alive!” someone shouts.

Another man in the crowd lets out a high-pitched hysterical scream. Gaddafi then goes out of view and gunshots ring out. One of the fighters present said Gaddafi was in a bad way but alive when he was put in the ambulance.

Yet the ambulance driver, Ali Jaghdoun, said Gaddafi was dead when he picked him up and he then drove the body to the city of Misrata.

“I didn’t try to revive him because he was already dead,” Jaghdoun said.

In other video footage obtained by Reuters a convoy of vehicles is seen speeding along a desert road, horns blaring and men shouting “We have Muammar! It’s Muammar!”

In later footage the convoy slows to a halt. Fighters rush to an ambulance shouting that Gaddafi is dead.

A young man appears beside the ambulance, a bearded man beside him shouts out:

“He’s the killer. And I am the witness who saw him.”

The young fighter exclaims excitedly:

“We found him in a hole. He had somebody with him inside it.”

Grinning and brandishing a handgun, there was jubilation around him while being embraced by the fighters.

“This is the guy who killed Gaddafi. Using this, you see,” the man with the beard shouts, holding up the young man’s hand in which he has a gun.

“He did it in front of me. I saw it in front of me.”

A dramatic climax to a series of protests and demonstrations across the Middle East and North Africa which has become known as the “Arab Spring”; in my opinion it should be relabeled “The American Green Pasture”.

Libya like the rest was feed to the vicious dog (America) and her pairs by her own people and at the point of being devoured she would have uttered a very profound and thought provoking statement; “I was not devoured today, I was devoured the very day Iraq was consumed within the bowels of this vicious beast”. This; my dear brothers and sisters would be our fate if we give-up, betray and kill our brothers and sisters.

In some of Gaddafi’s last words he was saying “God forbids this” and was asking the NTC rebels the question “Do you know right from wrong?” a statement and a question no one paid much attention to but would you believe it is the two most important set of words to come from the lips of Gaddafi in this whole brutal affair? Let us now from an Islamic point of view take a deeper look at these two utterances.

Allah mentions in the Quran; chapter 18 103-105: “Say: ‘Shall we tell you of those who lose most in respect of their deeds? They are those whose efforts have been wasted in this life, while they thought that they were acquiring good by their works?’ They are those who deny the Signs of their Lord and the fact of their having to meet Him (in the Hereafter): vain will be their works, nor shall we, on the Day of Judgment, give them any weight.”

Here Allah makes mention of a group of misguided, ignorant criminals who would call themselves Muslim; the term used in Arabic to describe them is Khawaarij which means to go out or leave something. This label of theirs may be translated as separatists, insurgents, rebels, nonconformist, etc. They are called this because of their leaving the (fundamentals of the) religion and for their opposing the Muslims  and it is also said that they were called this due to their leaving the path of the Muslim Community. They were the first people to go against Imam Ali in the war of Siffin, they distanced themselves from Uthman and Ali (May Allah be pleased with them). They called people with major sins kuffar and they said that it is legitimate and compulsory to rebel against an Imam if he differs or opposes a Sunnah (according to their opinion).

The ideology of Khawaarij was the first innovation to appear in Islam and the first opposition and insurgency from them occurred against the leader of the believers, Ali Ibn Abi Talib (May Allah be pleased with him) when the issue of who has the right to pass rulings was debated. The Khawaarij gathered at a place called Harura near Kufah in Iraq. It must be noted here that the people of the land of Iraq have a history of upheaval and chaos and groups that cause strife. They are so infamous for it that they are referred to the “People of division and hypocrisy.”

Let us now direct our attention to what the Prophet of Islam said about this affair by first focusing on where it all began; Iraq.

The Prophet of Islam said the following: “O Allah, put barakah (blessing) on our Sham (Syria)! O Allah put barakah on our Yemen. The people said, and on our Najd as well? I think the third time he (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, There (Najd) is a place of earthquakes and afflictions and from it the horn of Shaitan (Satan) will come out.” (The Najd is in the direction of the east and is in the city of the highlands of the Iraqi steppe/desert. Its direction is east of the people of Madinah, so Najd is with regard to the land of Iraq.)

In other narrations he (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “In there (Iraq) will occur earthquakes, trials and tribulations and there will appear the horn of Satan.” In another narration he (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said “from there (Iraq) will arise the horn of Satan and the trials and tribulations would come like mounting waves.” There is another saying which is similar where he (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “indeed there is the Horn of Satan, and the trials and tribulations will come like mounting waves, and indeed harshness/coarseness is in the east.”

The Prophet of Islam (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then goes on to describe these people as was narrated by Abu Sa’ed al-Khudri; he said that the Prophet of Islam (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made a mention of a sect that would be among his Ummah which would emerge out of the dissension of the people. Their distinctive mark would be shaven heads. Now what is understood from this narration is that they would shave the hair on their heads in the later era. This has become a principal for all the Khawaarij. However the only thing that distinguishes the Khawaarij is not only shaving their heads. Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had shaved the hair on his head also and some among the companions. Some Muslims among the Ummah had continuously shaved their heads also. For this reason the narration here does not carry a meaning that it is restricted to shave the heads. Therefore there is a possibility that this matter referrers to the Khawaarij who shave their beards as well. There is a possibility that there are Khawaarij who would rise in some eras who would shave their beards and cut their hair.

So my dear reader, have you seen the leaders of the revolution? Do they have beards? Something you should ponder upon. 

So as we continue the Prophet of Islam (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said they would be the worst creatures or the worst of the creatures. In another narration he (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said while pointing his hand towards Iraq. ‘There will appear in it (i.e., Iraq) some people who will recite the Qur’an but it will not go beyond their throats, and they will go out from (leave) Islam as an arrow darts through the game’s body’.”

It can be deduced from the above sayings that Najd is neither blessed nor a good place but a place of upheaval and chaos and Evil. Najd has been deprived of the blessings of Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and therefore Najd has the seal of misery and misfortune and hoping for any good from there is going against the Will of Allah. According to the narration; it is a place that so many upheaval and chaos had occurred and will be occurred.

It is exactly what we are witnessing today, the removal of Saddam Hussein and the chaos and anarchy that followed was the door that opened up that lead to the path of the “Arab Springs” or as I would put it “The American Green Pasture”

Let us continue “Once the Prophet of Islam (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was distributing booties (Spoils of War) when a person named Thul-Khuwaysara, who was from the tribe of Bani Tamim addressed him (saw) ‘Oh Muhammad Be Just!’. The Prophet (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: ‘A Great pity that you have doubts, if I am unjust then who will be just, you are a loser and a failure.’ Thul-Khuwaysara's attitude infuriated Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) and he pleaded with the Prophet (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to permit him to slay Thul-Khuwaysara. Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remarked: ‘Leave him, as his slaying will serve no good purpose, as he is not the only individual but there are a host of others like him and if you compare their prayers and fasting to that of yours, you yourself will feel ashamed. These are the people who will recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their throats, with all these apparent virtues they will leave the fold of Islam just like the arrow leaves the bow’.”

It is said that these people of Khawaarij are the off springs of Thul Khuwaisarah at-Tamemee and he was among the tribe of Tamemee. During the era of Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) the people of tribe of Tamemee were behind the false prophets such as Sajah and Musailamah.

The Khawaarij collectively agreed that both the 3rd and 4th caliphs of Islam; Uthman and later Ali (May Allah be pleased with them) were in fact disbelievers as were the other companions... And they think revolting against the leaders and governments is permissible. They also believe that any major sin is an act of disbelief…

It must be noted here that After the Khawaarij was defeated by Ali (May Allah be pleased with him), two of them fled to Oman, two to Karmaan (near Khorasan in Iran and Sijistaan), two to Sijistaan(Seistan), two to the Arabian Peninsula, and one fled to Yemen. The innovated beliefs and methods of the Khawaarij appeared in these places from them (the nine people who were defeated and fled) and they’ve remained ever since up until today.

The Prophet of Islam (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) condemned them saying “The Khawaarij are wicked people, and I don’t know of any people on earth more evil than they.”

Now to further understand the gravity of this affair one must know there are many Sects of Khawaarij that are classified as sitters and revolutionaries. There is the sect who revolts and fights against. Then there are the sitters who are revolutionary in nature; they prefer to sit and provoke common-folks against the ruler without actually revolting themselves. They are those who incite the people, stir up hatred within the hearts against the rulers and issue fatwas making lawful what Allah has declared unlawful in the name of changing the evil. They are, in most cases, more dangerous than the Khawaarij themselves. Since, speech, inciting hatred within the hearts and provoking the common-folks against the rulers has the most profound effect upon the souls; especially when it comes from a man who is an eloquent speaker who dupes the people with his tongue and disguises it with the Sunnah. And then there is the sect of the Khawaarij who declares those who don’t agree with their views to be disbelievers, and they consider their blood lawful for shedding. They also permit the killing of the women and children that oppose them; sounds familiar?

They (the Khawaarij) were the first ones who split away from the unified body of the Muslims declaring them disbelievers due to (their committing of) sins. They will kill the People of Islam, while leaving alone the people idol worship.

It was reported that Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The most evil of people to be killed beneath the sky/on the face of the earth, and those whom they kill are the best of people, are the dogs of the hellfire. They used to be Muslims and became kuffar.”

There is a great reward for he who kills them. Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah be pleased with him) said: “If the army that encounters them knew what was ordained for them upon the tongue of their prophet, they would only rely on that action.”

So from the analyst given above It is not permissible for the one who sees the uprising of a khariji who has revolted against the leader, whether he is just or oppressive, to be deceived by this persons recitation of the Qur’an, the length of his standing in the prayer, nor his constant fasting, nor his good and excellent words in knowledge when it is clear to him that this persons way and methodology is that of the Khawaarij.”

So Alas! The American/Israeli Imperialist had gotten themselves an important ally in the war against Islam and Muslims, an agenda in part to completely destroy the Islamic culture and to plunder the wealth of the Muslim lands and now that Gaddafi is gone, makes this more achievable but would it be an easy task? Keeping in mind that the country’s new leaders; the National Transitional Council, must do all they can to avoid the country falling into the same state of chaos and anarchy which hit Iraq in 2003 after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

The National Transitional Council has now an obligation to put an end to the ragtag bands of rebels, to protect the Libyan residents, to forbid any wild behavior; in short it must ensure the spirit of justice and reconciliation prevails over that of revenge.

Off course this might be all wish full thinking for we all know The National Transitional Council has been plagued by infighting and the emergence of factions. Those rifts include sharp divisions among rebel groups, such as leaders in the western city of Misrata who have refused to recognize the eastern-based National Transitional Council as the country’s new government, And with Gaddafi dead, the primary unifying force that held the rebels together is gone.

Off course with that accomplished, the question for the rebels becomes whether they will be able to stick together and not descend into a situation of chaos and civil war.

We must also understand the divisions have taken on an increasingly ideological tone. It is the same old story: Liberals and so called Islamists come together during the revolution, only to split afterward, often in acrimony.

Above all else, a government needs to govern. It has to have a monopoly on the use of force, and this is a challenge in one of the world's most heavily armed countries. The various militias that helped bring down Gaddafi now represents competing centers of power and influence. Disarming them, or integrating them into the national army, is a key task ahead for Libya’s new leaders.

As for what could happen to Libya after Gaddafi, we need not look no farther than Egypt. The world celebrated with that nation’s people in February when intense demonstrations against the rule of longtime leader Hosni Mubarak forced him to relinquish power. Several months later, the country is ruled by a military council, and fierce political struggles dominate.

The same thing applies to Libya; In fact, Libya is much more divided than Egypt or even Yemen.

In conclusion, it is an absolute fact that if you begin wrong you are going to end wrong and these uprising are a perfect case in point. From an Islamic point of view none of these rebellions was in accordance with Islamic law and whenever and wherever there is any attempt to usurp the authority of the Muslim leaders in the Muslim lands only one thing will inevitably follow; total anarchy.

What type of legacy do you want to hand down to your children? - A world that is safe but without freedom? A body that is alive without being human? A solid ground without being stable? A religion without having purpose? A right to exist without being able to survive? A right to speak without the privilege of being heard? The will to stand without having a platform? The satisfaction of hope without having anything to hold on to? Come-on people don’t you see we are dead and just waiting to be buried? Is this the future of our children? It’s certainly not the future of mine! It’s time to awake from slumber and robe ourselves with the power vested in us as a people and take back this beleaguered country of ours.

A burning question as to who stands to benefit; the Government or the people?

Think of the people in this Twin Island State as meat in a pressure pot being cooked for the capitalist masters; with the pressure pot representing the Government. If the mechanism in the pressure pot (Government) to contain the meat (the people) is not functioning and working properly; what you will find is that the meat (the people) will explode creating a big mess; destroying the pressure pot (Government) in the process.

It is an undisputed fact that murders have been rampant in this twin Island state but isn’t oppression worst than slaughter? Isn’t crime a direct result of poverty, unfair and unjust treatment and undue pressure on the working class?

There is no crime worst than the hungry bellies of our children.

There is no crime worst than the empty book bags of our youths.

There is no crime worst than the fear and the uncertainty the future holds for our fellow men.

This oppression includes psychological trauma, and mental illness, it includes preventing access to basic living amenities, denying rights and fair play, preventing access to the freedoms we were once accustomed to, and burdening us with a high cost of living and unemployment. In all of these instances this oppressive PP Government is denying access, and driving the people out of places where they have a right to be. All this is being imposed on us, through what is obviously a systemic method of  mass torture in getting rid of  and downplaying those individuals who would stand up for their rights with impunity right before the eyes of the international community, and also the international rights organisations, and the supposedly civilized world, that has caused this Peoples Partnership to be among the most hated and distrusted Government in the history of Trinidad and Tobago, and its ministers most despised.

To prevent access to justice and fairness is punishing than slaughter. Such prevention of access can perhaps be explained as creating an environment that is not conducive to education, or the practice of right conduct. This could be something as simple as making it impossible for a person to survive without committing acts like stealing, selling drugs, or prostitution, etc. And /or it could be as complex as creating such material, psychological and spiritual hardships that a previously law abiding people begin to question goodness, their sense of belonging, and their right to exist, which could be explained as tests beyond what the people can bear.

From all this it is clear that the PP Government had no intentions of protecting the citizenry of this twin State but rather to protect their seat of power. Having considered the pending treat of the trade unions, the uprising in the middle east and most recently the riots in England; they were not willing to take that chance, so by implementing the State of Emergency they would give unto themselves all the power taken away from the people leaving them helpless and void of all rights and privileges; oppressing them even more.

This oppressive Government, whether obvious to the people, is to cause law abiding persons to abandon their patriotism, in allowing themselves to be governed, by civil disobedience and the commission of crimes to sustain and protect their own. This as they see it is what is best in this life.

It is hard to see and read that everyday this PP Government is violating the rights of poor people treating them as sub humans, without souls with more detentions, while refusing to address their social ills and their brutal and illegal economic hardships as what took place with Clico and the Hindu Credit Union. It seems that this PP Government is persistent in its disregard to Human Rights, Justice and Fairness.

What is not so obvious is the fact that the State of Emergency is also destroying this twin Island state. It’s citizens, who include Indians as well as Muslims, Christians, Africans, Syrians and others, separate from the political oligarchy, are equally victims of the Capitalist fanaticism and racism that is threatening our entire Twin State.

Where was the state of emergency when food prices soared; when mothers could not have brought milk for their babies?

Where the state of emergency when poor people was was turned away from the hospitals; when people were dying on the corridors of the hospitals?

Where was the state of emergency when helpless people were marooned in their homes due to flooding; when they had nowhere to go after losing everything?

Our goal is not only saving the innocent from this wicked and oppressive PP Government, but we must also seek to save them. We all must support this idea recognizing and opposing the serious danger of the oppression that inflicts suffering not only upon the innocent, but also on the oppressors and perpetrators of violence and crime. 

We should be sincere in our intent and purpose and put a stop once and for all to the cunning and oppression of this oppressive PP Government if we are to change our future for a better life.

What Is There To Celebrate?

Eid is a day of celebration… The question is what is there to celebrate?

How can one celebrate Eid when the Muslims of the 21st century hear that there has been an earthquake in Indonesia, Pakistan or a Tsunami along the borders of Asia but do not feel pained? When they hear of such atrocities or sufferings happening to their beloved Muslim brothers across the world there is no shared grief or significant compassion? Why is it that today when we hear that our Muslim brothers and sisters around the world are being tortured mercilessly, their land and possessions destroyed/occupied; their children are being killed/enslaved in poverty and human rights are being annihilated, that we feel no pain? Why do we allow our Muslim brothers and sisters to languish away in prison awaiting trial? Have we no care for them? Why do we waste so much food when we see images of our Muslim brothers and sisters and their children starving to death? Have we no conscience? 

While we are living and enjoying the comforts and luxuries of the 21st century, our brothers and sisters are being oppressed all around us. It has become such that we have become immune to hearing such afflictions. It has become such that we find it hard to shed even one tear.

My dear Muslims, whoever you are and wherever you are, have we forgotten the Hadith of Rasullullah(S)?

Rasullullah(S) giving an example of Muslim unity is reported to have said in a Hadith:

“The Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain”

So we the Muslim Ummah, whatever color, nationality or gender, wherever we are, are like this body. If we hear that any part of this Ummah is being oppressed, then we should feel this pain.

My dear Muslims, our oppressed brothers and sisters are crying out for help. They find that the Muslims of the 21st century are asleep and there is no one to help them. The reason why we the Muslims are collapsing is because we do not have any love amongst us. What do our Masjids Represents?

Our Masjids ought to represent a source of spirituality, strength and unity; it is where our stewardship takes root; a place where the fusion of culture and race gives birth to brotherhood; a power house of intellectual minds; a house of refuge; a beacon of light. Do our Masjids represent that? If not, what then is the state of our Jamaats and Muslims?

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) an Islamic Organisation situated in Bon Accord Tobago had strongly objected to Urmela Ragbir and Dundee Mohammed of Stop n’ Shop located at shop #4 of Lal’s Hardware Compound, #31 Store Bay Local Road, Bon Accord, Tobago, from obtaining a Licence to sell Spirituous Liquors. We saw this as having a negative impact on our adult citizens and by extension our youths, our families and our community. However the hypocritical pious, Ignorant, Narrow-minded Liquor Licensing Board did not see it that way hence their Irrational, Unintelligent, decision to grant the same.

Every Citizen is a building block of this Society; it implies a sacred vow to protect and create a safe and peaceful environment. The consuming of alcohol encourages vile and vulgar displays of human behavior, thus creating a Godless society. It was Sacrilegious to grant such a licence and in so doing brought humiliation on the Liquor Licensing Board by offering themselves to being very cynical indeed.   

The sale and consumption of alcohol has negatively impacted on our society for many years.

This fallout has resulted in a gateway into the use of illicit drugs and as a consequence grown to addiction and health issues, caused the break-up of families and homes, decreased productivity in the work place, have contributed to an increased occurrence of crime – assault, rape, robbery and murders. Alcohol related activities have placed an added burden on health care and health care reform and worst of all have plunged the youths into a state of adolescence intolerance reaping havoc in the home and in school. Adding another venue where alcohol can be brought will just make alcohol more easily available and accessible to the public and in particular the youths. This action in itself would counteract all the initiatives and programs being facilitated by our government in promoting a culture of Peace, safety and security in our communities.

It was within this context we begged the Liquor Licensing Board not to grant this licence. The decision they made to Grant this Licence will inevitable allow the continued degradation of our society at the hands of reckless, irresponsible and immoral citizens of this Twin Island state of ours.

Being very Acrimonious we decided to pursue an answer as to what may have influenced their decision. Further to our Assumptions, information has come to us that Urmela Ragbir is the wife of Subash Ragbir CEO of MIC a Government Tertiary Education Program. Isn’t it ironic on the one hand we have the Husband participating in the development of youths and on the other we have the wife volunteering her services to destroy them? Which leads us to our next question: How is it possible that the wife of a Government appointed CEO be granted a Licence to sell Spirituous Liquors? Especially in light of the following:

1. There existed a number of Health, electrical, Fire and structural issues with the building where the said business establishment is located. All the necessary Statuary checks and inspection was not conducted according to law before approval was given.
2. The preservation of moral and ethical values in our community was compromised.
3. A number of religious organisations and churches are operating in very close proximity to the said establishment i.e. less than 400 meters away.
4. A lot of families with children live in very close proximity to this business establishment.
5. A lot of very young children and teenagers frequent this same business establishment and there is no clearly visible signs cautioning the Sale of alcohol to minors.
6. Just opposite operates a Day Care Centre.
7. The social culture in Tobago is as such that where ever alcohol is sold whether it be a Bar, Supermarket or Mini Mart you’ll find individuals sitting right outside consuming the alcohol they brought. And that was exactly what happened there. Urmela Ragbir and Dundee Mohammed would provide seating arrangements for their customers and would also gather and collect the empty beer bottles and take it inside their shop. They would often times have a young boy name Davanand Singh serve out Alcohol and cigarettes to the customers. Also visible at times were children accompanying those customers while consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Doesn’t that type of activity bears the resemblance of a Bar? There isn’t any urinal so those customers would pass urine all over the compound thus creating an unhealthy environment with a stench in the air.
8. Directly arising out of the sale and consumption of this alcohol as it relates to this business establishment – ‘Stop n’ Shop’ – is a number of criminal and civil matters that is now before the courts.
9. Dundee Mohammed was convicted of a criminal offence and did spend time in a correctional facility.
10. It is alleged that Urmela Ragbir the wife of CEO Subash Ragbir attempted to pervert the course of justice by paying $100.00 to avoid prosecution in a matter where it is alleged she destroyed property belonging to a tenant. That alleged $100.00 was logged at the Crown Point Police Station by Officers Karute and Sergeant Piggott.    
11. There are already too many Shops and ‘Watering Holes’ that sell alcohol in the Canaan, Bon Accord and Crown Point area. Just to think, the very same street on which this shop is located there were already ‘FOURTEEN’ Shops, Bars and Mini-Marts that sell alcohol and this does not include the Shop in question and other areas of the community.
12. Copies of an objection letter and a petition were submitted to The Liquor Licensing Board and others.

In consideration of the entire above, one would assume that the granting of this licence was politically motivated. Our question is; was it?

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) sees this action as corrupt on path of The Liquor Licensing Board. We therefore call on all Citizens of this beautiful Island of Tobago to lobby The Liquor Licensing Board to review their decision in this regard and revoke with immediate effect any and all such Licence granted to Urmela Ragbir; the wife of CEO Subash Ragbir and by extension urge all stakeholders and Government agencies to have all such license reviewed and to further disallow all such first time application for sale of Spirituous Liquors in communities where it will negatively impact on our adult citizens and by extension our youths.

  

Ten (10) years from now when all statutory limits would have ended we may then come to the realization that a wrong decision was made in granting this and all such licence and we did nothing to prevent it. At that time it will be too late and nothing we do would be able to change it.

While the government attempts with all their might to deceive us, we must respond! We must send a strong message to the world that all is not well in Trinidad and Tobago! The duty of the Muslim Leaders

It is a duty of the Muslim Leaders, wherever they are, to give importance to the Command of Allaah. The essential benefit of Leadership by Muslim Leaders is that they direct the Muslims to Allaah's Religion, compel them to obey His Command, help them in obedience to Allaah and forbid them from what is contrary to or at variance with Allaah's Law. This is the intended purpose of Muslim Leaders. Allaah's Command should be established under their leadership by guiding the people to good and by compelling and helping them to adhere to what Allaah has make obligatory.

That act was the granting of bail to the two biggest financiers of the UNC and the PP. It came like a thief in the night... The BIG JOKE is on all of us... All it took was for just another 'Muslim' to be sacrificed at the halter... First it was Fazeer then Nizam... Who would it be next?

 When should the words as-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (prayer is better than sleep) be said? In the first adhaan or in the second? It is a consensus by some scholars that ` As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm `in FAJR Adhan is a Bi`da cause Hazarat Bilal use to use these words in TAHAJJUD Adhan and IBN MAKTOUM use to call the FAJR Adhan whereby he did not use these words. The other consensus is that, by the use of these words you are trying to compare SLEEP with FAJR Salat which should not be the case. It is also said that Shaikh Albaani had made a Du`aa for the youngsters of today asking ALLAH to give them Hidaya to stop this Bi`da. If this is correct, why is it being followed in Mecca and Madina as well?

It is narrated in a number of saheeh ahaadeeth that the as-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (prayer is better than sleep) are to be said in the adhaan for Fajr. It is mentioned in some of them that this phrase is to be said in the first adhaan without stating what is meant by the phrase “the first adhaan” – is it the adhaan that is given before Fajr or is it the adhaan of Fajr itself?

These ahaadeeth include the following:

1 – It was narrated that Abu Mahdhoorah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I used to give the adhaan for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and in the first adhaan of Fajr I used to say: “Hayya ‘ala al-falaah, As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm, As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm, Allaahu Akbar Allaahu Akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah (come to prosperity, prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god but Allaah).”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 500; al-Nasaa’i, 647; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

2 – It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: In the first adhaan after the word al-falaah it said: As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep).

Shaykh al-Albaani said:

It was narrated by al-Tahhaawi (1/82) with a hasan isnaad as al-Haafiz said in al-Talkhees (3/169).

These ahaadeeth provide evidence for those who said that this should be said in the first adhaan which comes at the end of the night. But the correct view is that it should be said the adhaan which comes after the time for prayer has begun. That is for a number of reasons:

(a)  The word awwal (first) is in relation to the iqaamah, and the iqaamah is the second call to prayer. In the saheeh Sunnah there are reports in which the iqaamah is called an “adhaan”, as in the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Between each two calls (adhaanayn)…” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 598; Muslim, 838.

In Saheeh Muslim (739) the adhaan which comes after the time for prayer begins is called the first adhaan. This appears in the hadeeth narrated by ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) about the prayer of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). She said: He used to sleep during the first part of the night and wake up during the latter part, then if he had any need for intimacy with his wife he would satisfy that need, then he would sleep. Then when it was the time of the first call, he would wake up and pour water over himself, and if he was not junub he would do wudoo’ as a man does for prayer, then he would pray two rak’ahs.

What is meant by two rak’ahs here is the regular Sunnah of Fajr, as stated by al-Nawawi in Sharh Muslim.

(b)  In some saheeh ahaadeeth it is clearly stated that the adhaan in which this phrase appears is called adhaan salaat al-subh, adhaan al-fajr, etc. These phrases indicate that this adhaan should come after the time for the prayer begins and the adhaan that is given at the end of the night comes before the time for prayer begins. These ahaadeeth include the following:

1 – It was narrated that Abu Mahdhoorah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I said: “O Messenger of Allaah, teach me the Sunnah of adhaan.” He wiped the front of my head and said: “Say Allaah Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaah Akbar, Allaahu Akbar (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great)… And if it is Fajr prayer, then say: As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm, As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (Prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep).

According to another, similar report, it says: “As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm, As-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (Prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep) in the first adhaan of dawn.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 501; al-Nasaa’i, 633; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

According to another report narrated by Abu Dawood (504) from Abu Mahdhoorah (may Allaah be pleased with him): He used to say in Fajr: “as-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (Prayer is better than sleep). Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

2 – It was narrated that Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: It is Sunnah for the muezzin, after saying Hayya ‘ala al-falaah (come to prosperity), to say: “as-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (prayer is better than sleep)” twice.

Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

This was narrated by al-Daaraqutni (90), Ibn Khuzaymah in his Saheeh and al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan (1/423), and he said: its isnaad is saheeh.

It was also narrated by al-Daraaqutni and al-Tahhaawi (1/82) via Hushaym from Ibn ‘Awn with the wording: In the adhaan for Fajr prayer, when the muezzin said: Hayya ‘ala al-falaah (come to prosperity), he said: “as-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm (prayer is better than sleep),” twice. This version was narrated by Ibn al-Sakan who classed it as saheeh, as it says in al-Talkhees, 3/148

These ahaadeeth show that this phrase appears in the adhaan for Fajr prayer.

The adhaan which is the call to prayer is that which comes after the time for the prayer has begun, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When the time for prayer begins, then let one of you give the adhaan for you.” Agreed upon.

As for the adhaan which comes at the end of the night, this is not an adhaan for Fajr prayer as such, rather it is done “so that the one who is praying qiyaam may go back and the one who is asleep may wake up”, as is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in al-Saheehayn. Thus it is clear that the phrase which appears in the adhaan which comes after the time for the prayer begins is not a bid’ah (innovation), rather it is Sunnah.

A Standing Committee of scholars were asked:

What is the reason why the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), to say as-salaatu khayrum mi nan nawm, is not done in the first adhaan for Fajr, as is mentioned in Sunan al-Nasaa’i, Ibn Khuzaymah and al-Bayhaqi?

They replied:

Yes, this phrase should be mentioned in the first adhaan of Fajr, in accordance with the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It is clear from the hadeeth that it is the adhaan that is done when the true dawn comes, and it is called ‘first’ in relation to the iqaamah, which is an adhaan according to sharee’ah, as it says in the hadeeth, “Between every two calls (adhaanayn) there should be a prayer.” The word adhaan here does not refer to the call that is given before the appearance of the true dawn. That call is prescribed in order to wake those who are asleep and so that those who are praying qiyaam may go back. It is not a call to announce the Fajr prayer. Whoever studies the ahaadeeth about this phrase will see clearly that they refer to the adhaan given to announce the time of Fajr, not the adhaan which is given at night just before dawn. End quote.

Playing cards is not permitted!

IN THE NAME OF ALLAAH MOST GRACIOUS MOST MERCIFUL

Playing cards is not permitted, even if there is no money involved, because the problem with that is that it distracts people from remembering Allaah (dhikr) and from prayer. Even if they claim that this is not the case, then it is still a means that may lead to gambling which is expressly forbidden in the Qur’aan. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al-Ansâb, and Al-Azlâm (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are abominations of Shaitân's (Satan's) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abominations) in order that you may be successful. Shaitân (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allâh and from As-Salât (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain? And obey Allâh and the Messenger (Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]), and beware (of even coming near to drinking or gambling or Al-Ansâb, or Al-Azlâm) and fear Allâh. Then if you turn away, you should know that it is Our Messenger's duty to convey (the Message) in the clearest way.”

[Surah al-Maa.idah - 005:090 – 092]

These cards have an effect on society, for the bonds of a strong society are achieved by means of two things: following the commands of Allaah and heeding His prohibitions. A society disintegrates when it neglects any of those duties or does any of those things that are forbidden. These cards form one of the factors which have an effect on society. They cause people to neglect prayer in congregation, and they generate alienation, breaking of ties, hatred and negligence through the committing of haraam actions and they make people too lazy to earn a living. 

With regard to the history of these playing cards: No one really knows who invented playing cards or when or where they were invented. It has been said that they are of Chinese or Indian origin, or otherwise. But historians are agreed that they came to Europe from the Middle East in the latter part of the Middle Ages. Experts also say that there is agreement that playing cards have clearly evolved from that time until now. 

Playing cards made their first appearance in Europe in Andalusia, and were brought to northern Spain in the eleventh century CE. 

The traditional deck of cards in Spain consisted of 40 cards, including the numbers 1 to 7, plus three characters, the highest of which was the “ruler”, followed by the “deputy”, then the “scribe” or “knight.” 

In the sixteenth century, the French changed the cards, replacing the “ruler” with the king, the “deputy” with the queen, and the “knight” with the jack. They also added three new numbers, so that the deck now consisted of 52 cards. In the seventeenth century, the Germans added a fourth character, the joker.

It may also be added that playing cards is devoid of any of the goals of recreational activities as required in Islam; it does not teach any skill that is needed for jihad or any useful knowledge or bring any social benefit or relaxation that will calm the nerves. Rather it is a game that has nothing good in it; it causes arguments and simply kills time. It is based on speculation and chance, and it is like playing with dice, in that it leads to disputes and fighting, and it is like alcohol and gambling. 

Based on the above, it would not be far fetched to suggest that it is haraam rather than makruh, by analogy with dice, because both are based on chance and both lead to arguments.

This is based on the fact that it leads to enmity and hatred, and because it is a great waste of time and it distracts people from remembering Allaah (dhikr) and keeps them from worshipping and obeying Him.
