Letter to Tajikistan

Assalaamu 'Alaiykum;
Peace and Guidance; Greetings; Good Morning;

Following is a letter I have written to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan condemning Tajikistan's draconian bid to eradicate radical Islam by shaving the beard of 13,000 men and removing the Hijabs of 1,700 women. The letter was CC to Foreign Affairs Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago. Please find links to the story and the original letter attached. Thank you.

Re: Tajikistan's draconian bid to eradicate radical Islam

Assalaamu 'Alaiykum;

Dear Minister Aslov Sirodjidin Muhridinovich;
To destroy a people, one must first take away their culture and their way of life.

We - the Waajihatul Islaamiyyah - condemn in the strongest terms, the announcement by Tajikistan to forcibly shave the beards of 13,000 men and remove the headscarves of 1,700 women in a bid to eradicate radical Islam.  This comes as no surprise for it was foretold by our Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)
that a time would come when the whole world would gather around to plan to destroy Muslims.

It is evidently clear that the entire democratic and secular world is bent on destroying Islam and Muslims.  It appears as though when the current President of Turkey in 1989 said, “the Mosques are our barracks, the domes are our helmets, the minarets are our bayonets and the faithful are our soldiers..."  It struck a fear in the heart of those who sit in power, but for a country with 95% Muslims whose population is just over 8 million; something or someone had to have had influenced such a decision.

Human rights and religious freedom shall not be the subject of a referendum.  Tajikistan has failed to give a clear signal for diversity, freedom of religion and human rights.

The Tajikistan administration as is with others in the west have done nothing more than fan the flames of discord between Islam and the godless democratic/secular world.

Our message to you and your government is: you can shave off our beards, ban the hijaab and even destroy our culture but you would never be able to destroy the pure heart of a believer.  He that fuels us is Allaah through the Quran and the way of our prophet Muhammad (SAW).  This course of action will serve you no good as this would seek to harm none other than your citizen and your country.

You cannot change an ideology except through proper education; an education program that is well structured, targeted, specific and conceptualized.

We beseech the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to distance itself and never adopt this Western-type Islamophobia and to reject all and any such influence and suggestion in the strongest possible way.

Sincerely

Umar Abdullah

Media Release: French Face Veil Ban

Media Release:
French Face Veil Ban

In light of the recent developments in France, Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) vows to take every possible and necessary action in response to the banning of the Burka.

The Prophet (pbuh) of Islam said:

"The similarity of the believers in their mutual love and brotherhood is similarity of the single organism. When one part hurts, the whole body hurts".

When this occurs we must be able administer a cure that would kill the bacteria and destroy the parasite…

Cover Letter to Paula Gopee-Scoon; Minister of Foreign Affairs Trinidad and Tobago

Peace and Guidance Madam Minister;

Attached is a letter I sent to the Ambassador of the French Republic to Trinidad and Tobago. It concerns the recommendation by the French President and his administration to partially ban the wearing of veils that cover the face - including the Burqa.

This issue is of great importance not only to my organisation but to
all Muslims in this Twin Island State of ours. What ever affects
Muslims in France, affects us here as well. If these issues with the
French is not addressed, it will inevitably negitively impact on you
and your office and by extension your government. PLEASE be advised I am prepared to do what ever it takes to properly deal with these matters. I view this as tantamount to a physical attack on my Muslim Sisters.

Madam Minister... I am open for dialog on these and other issues that affect us Muslims here in Trinidad and Tobago. You can contact me through the following Numbers: 787-0765/365-6253 or email me at waajihatulislaamiyyah@gmail.com. Please don't allow this opportunity to pass you by. Thank You.

Peace and Guidance

Letter To His Excellency, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Trinidad and Tobago.

29 January 2010

Re: His Excellency, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Trinidad and Tobago.

Dear Honourable Ambassador;

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.

“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyûbihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islâm), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.” (Quran 24:31).

If ever you want to destroy a people, you first take away their culture and their way of life.

The recommendation by your President and his administration to partially ban the wearing of veils that cover the face - including the Burqa - came as no surprise for we are told by our Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) “that a time would come when the whole world would gather around to plan the destruction of the Muslims as if they were gathered around a table to take part in a meal".

It is evidently clear that the President of France and the entire democratic world is bent on destroying Islam and Muslims. It appears as though when the Caliph al-Mu'tasim commanded and deployed a massive army to retaliate against the Romans who at the time invaded Malatya, in honour of a Muslim sister who cried out "Wa Mo'atasimah" which translates to "O Mu'tasim", after being captured and unveiled by the Romans has not taught the democratic world any lesson when it comes to our Muslim Sisters... or has your Prime Minister forgotten where in the 1700s an RC Bishop banned the eating of potatoes calling it food of the soulless infidels - potatoes which were being imported at that time from the Andes in Peru . The Bishop's order lead to widespread starvation and eventually the French Revolution.

The actions of your President will inevitably set a precedent for the whole of the democratic world, simultaneously throwing open the doors of compromise to those Muslim Brothers and Sisters who are not prepared to stand firm on this issue. This would however weaken our resolve and so would lead to the eventual striping of all our religious practices.

I am yet to see the rationale behind your President’s thinking compounded with the fact that France already has a law against Muslim girls wearing headscarves in state schools.

Sarkozy said the issue is one of a woman's freedom and dignity, and did not have to do with religion; Woman’s freedom and dignity? By whose standard? Surely he is not speaking on behalf of the Muslims?

People all over the world and even in France are allowed to practice their culture even if these cultures negatively affect society. What’s wrong or rather what negative effect do these women have on society? Which by the way forces us to wonder why a partial ban? Wouldn’t your society be exposed to the same ‘perceived threat’ on the streets and other public places? Or is it that Sarkozy is just testing the waters to see the response of the Muslim world in determining how far he can take this?

Your President have done nothing more than fan the flames of discord between the Muslims and the Democratic world.

Our message to your President is: you may ban the wearing of the veils that cover the face - including the Burqa and even destroy all the Quran in the world but he will never be able to destroy the pure heart of a believer.

He that fuels us is Allah through the Quran and the way of our Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). This course of action will serve your President no good as he would seek to harm none other than his own citizens and his country.

Honourable Ambassador you have a responsibility to communicate our concerns to your President. Your Embassy is a reflection and a pure representative of your country and by extension a representative of the views of your President and his administration. What affects my Muslim Brothers and Sisters there in France would affect us Muslims here as well. Consequently, in answering the cries of our Muslim Sisters, our first line of communication would obviously be you and neither I nor my organisation is prepared to stand down until you address our concerns on behalf of your government.

I would wish at this time you address the Muslim community of this Twin Island State of ours and thoroughly explain your government’s position on Islam and Muslims as it relates to France. Let us know where you stand on this issue as this would obviously affect our relationship. Should we see this as an error on the part of your Prime Minister and a total misrepresentation of your views? Or is this really a declaration of war against Islam and Muslims by your country?

Yours respectfully,
Umar Abdullah

My Detention for CHOGM 2009

Assalaamu ‘Alaiykum; Peace and Guidance to all;

Sorry for being away for so long. This was all due to my detention
during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2009, held in Trinidad and Tobago. I was deemed a security threat to the meeting and more so to the French President Nicholas Sarkozy.

I was detained while attempting to board the inter-island ferry to Trinidad on Eid ul Adha. I was at the time helping a man carry his luggage – he too was detained. We were both escorted back to the port where our persons and luggage were searched by Special Branch Officers. We were then taken to the Scarborough Police Station for further questioning. The man I was assisting was subsequently released after his story was checked out.

All the while I was seated in an open room area with other officers. I was offered refreshments and a meal which I refused at the time; I was later given bottled water and allowed two phone calls to two of my wives, upon request. While in this area I was questioned by an officer about National Security issues, sometime later there were reports of two robberies in the Scarborough area which they attended to and because of a lack of man power I was placed in a holding cell for a short period, Whilst here, very surprisingly, I was offered a prayer mat which I accepted in the form of a large plastic bag I was also asked at what time I had to perform my prayer and so I was given a reminder when it was time. They indicated to me it was not their intention to place me in the holding cell but due to a lack of man power as I stated before they had no choice. They made sure I was comfortable and even put the air condition on and was told if at any time I felt too cold they would adjust the temperature. I was questioned at length while I was in the holding cell about matters relating to Islam, the Middle East and South East Asia – The Red Mosque in particular – and my Organisation.

Later that evening, Muslim brothers was allowed to visit and purchase a meal for me. At this time, I was taken out of the holding cell and returned to the open room area where the brothers came and had a short conversation with me I was allowed to greet them in the traditional way by shaking hands when they left.

A short time after I was informed that my home and business will be searched for guns and ammunition, later that night I was shown two warrants bearing my name with my home and business address. I was escorted by two marked police vehicles and a party of police Officers including one female officer. I requested of them to respect my home and business and in particular my wife to which they agreed. They made every effort not to alert my neighbours where I live and the residents around my business.

During the search my place was not ransacked as items was replaced in their original places and most important my wife was not disrespected in any way. Certain documents relating to my organisation and Islam were photographed at my office. Nothing illegal was found so I was taken back to the Scarborough Police Station where I was briefed as to why I was detained.

I was told I was considered a threat to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2009 in particular French President Nicholas Sarkozy which was made evident by a published document bearing my organisation name sent to the French Consulate and Sarkozy which was in response to his stance on the Muslim Sisters wearing of the Burka in France. I was subsequently released later that morning.

During my detention I was at no time placed in handcuffs, nor
disrespected in any way.

Belgian Schools Ban Muslim Headscarfs?

And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.” (Quran: 024:031)

This law of covering the head cannot be changed and any attempt to do such would be met with fierce resistance from the Muslim world…
