Media Release: No returns on $628 million spent on Carnival for the last four years.

Re: No returns on $628 million spent on Carnival for the last four years.

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2019/03/vibrant-pictures-show-carnival-mask-culture-in-caribbean-americas/

This is an article in the 2019 March issue of the National Geographic Magazine. Notice there were no mention of our Trinidad and Tobago Carnival. So the $628 million dollars spent over the past 4 years; which just came shy of our budget allocation for Agriculture this year, did nothing to show case our "art and culture" on the world stage. What then were government and it's agencies promoting? It's clear our drunken, lascivious and reckless behavior Superceded our "Talented Festival". Off course this is of no surprise, when one takes into consideration governments million dollar pay out for a song that has no meaning and no substance... Governments support and promotion for a meaningless presentation of what many criticize as being worthless would certainly go a long way to embarrass us as a Caribbean Island under the Sun...

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) laments the reckless spending and wasteful employment of our resources by government and it's agencies and the their inability to preserve and showcase our heritage. Instead what we see being promoted is a display of drunkenness, violence and vulgarity. Government needs to come full circle and access this deficiency in it's role and function and correct it now before it gets even worst.

Media Release: Judges Decision in the Soca Monarch 2019 Finals and Its Implications.

Media Release:

Re: Judges Decision in the Soca Monarch 2019 Finals and Its Implications.

Whenever the words; “He tell meh pick up something! Anything! Rum tell meh to grab something! Anything! I just want to pick up something! Anything! Watch how I go grab something! Anything! Rum tell me to run (run wid it!), run (run wid it!)…….” can attract the attention and the respect of Judges to the point of declaring Grenadian Soca artist and song writer Hollice "Mr. Killa" Mapp the winner of Trinidad and Tobago's Soca Monarch Competition, especially against the backdrop of the bad and reckless behavior of patrons upon hearing the song, signals a deficiency in our people when it comes right thinking and rational behavior; hence our inability to deal with the social decay in our country. There now seem to exist a cognitive bias amongst our people in particular those in leadership. This cognitive bias has nurtured in us, an acute sense of perceptual distortions, inaccurate judgments and illogical interpretations.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is calling on government and all its stakeholders to stop promoting elements of our art form and events that encourages irrational behavior, by filtering and baring out those constituents that has the tendency to threaten our progressive growth. If not, Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) predicts, practical implications for areas including social behavior, efficacy, clinical judgment, entrepreneurship, finance, and management.

Media Release: Response to the CoP.

Media Release:

Re: Response to the CoP.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) does not embrace the last series of statements made by the Commissioner of Police. It was noted how quick he was in commending Imam Sheraz of Nur-e-Islam Masjid for his account of what happened, but he never addressed the issue of brutality and injuries exacted on persons in the execution of their duties. Nothing was said about the unconstitutionality of the police actions at the homes of these persons. He spoke of evidence gathering, yet nothing was found. We describe the Acting Police Commissioner's statement as mere window dressing. Nothing more than a PR stunt. Void of substance.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is very upset over the news of the British couple who fled and returned to their country on February 6th 2018, after they were robbed of their phones and rental vehicle, as well as reports about the shooting incident involving the CoP's nephew. The persons held for this "so called" terror plot to disrupt carnival did not commit these acts. As far as I'm concerned these acts - which includes the scant and discourteous manner in which the police and the rental company responded to the British couple's plight - were committed by persons whom the TTPS and the Ministry of National Security ought to be paying attention to. This is the terror which will disrupt the Carnival celebrations and negatively reflect on our nation.

I call on the authorities to immediately release all persons held in this "so called terror plot" and return them safely to their families. These individuals are all innocent, law abiding citizens with strong spiritual upbringing. This is a stain on this administration which will linger on for a very very long time.

Media Release: MASAJID SEARCHES DETENTION OF MUSLIMS BY STATE

Media Release:

Re: MASAJID SEARCHES DETENTION OF MUSLIMS BY STATE

The Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is strongly condemning the flagrant and wanton disregard of the state and by extension the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) to further oppress and target Muslims of this country; more specifically Muslim communities and Jamaats which have contributed significantly to the population of Islam, the society as a whole and aides in mass charity efforts in this country.

The Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front)  regards the recent searches by Police officers in the following Masajid (Mosques)-Nur e Islam, Munroe Road, Sangre Grande, Bamboo and Laventille jamaats over the last few hours, as juvenile, baseless, and a clear indication of the vendetta and dislike of the state towards Muslims in this country, not to mention the disrespect and abuse meted out to a number of Muslim men from various parts of the country, who the Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) understands is being detained in a number of several police stations throughout the country for a few days now.

This the Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) fervently believes is a sour and pathetic attempt by the state to persecute Muslims in this country, and under the guise of “raids and searches” disrupt the Muslim Ummah (community) locally.

The Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) asks the following questions:

Why were these ad hoc searches conducted to these reputable Masjids?

Explain why their was a so called search for “devices” from these Masjids? And why wasn’t such searches conducted in other denominational or public places of worship?

Why the unconstitutional detainment of Muslim brothers more than 72 hours with no arrest is still on going?

Why is the state persistent on attacking and disrupting the peaceful practice of Islam in his country?

Why wasn’t “searches for devices” conducted in well known hot spots such as Beetham, Sealots etc. ?

And finally,
Why is the state targeting Muslims in this country by disrupting Masjids and Muslims communities by making false claims that there is a plan a foot that Muslims are planning to disrupt Carnival celebrations? Why single out Muslims?

This cowardly and dastardly actions by the state specifically the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) must not be forgotten by Muslim community, and the following questions must be answered. Are Muslims the only group within the society who does not engage in the Carnival revelry? No, so why target Muslims?

Further the Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is calling on head of the TTPS for answers into this persecution attempt and attack on law abiding Muslims in this country.

MEDIA RELEASE: STAY AT HOME!

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is sending a stern warning to all citizens of our twin island state to stay away from all Carnival festivities in light of the following:

1.     Wrath of God Almighty:
Never in the history of this Nation has God Almighty been so displeased and dissatisfied with our behaviour as a people.  Imagine the day has come in this land when a man will be given a prize of two million dollars for glorifying the consumption of alcohol and the vile disrespect of women.  The carnal sin of the people during this time by far exceeds what is normally accepted by God Almighty by way of misguidance and human error.  Whenever these acts of lewdness and promiscuity are rampant in the land that place becomes destined for God Almighty’s destruction.  They are correct when they say ‘Carnival is the Greatest Show on Earth’; it’s ‘The greatest Show of Obscene Disrespect and Vile Contempt to God Almighty.’

2.     People’s Frustration:
The ‘Democratic Capitalism’ has done very little if any at all to improve the life of the people of this blessed land of ours.  The blood and sweat of the people has reached its boiling point and it will take just one inconsiderate action to bring out the unreasonable beast in anyone.  One can well imagine the outcome of such an incident being influenced by consumption of alcohol and illicit drugs.

3.     Police Impasse:
An attempt by the police to withhold their much needed services would lead to wanton chaos and destruction.  This is inevitable due to the failed negotiation between the police and the CPO.  Imagine, monies can be found by the millions to promote a culture that is destructive but not 40% more to the men and women who are responsible for the safety and security of the entire country.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) cannot guarantee the safety of either citizens or foreign nationals during the Carnival season.  We are calling on all men, women and children to stay away from all carnival festivities or suffer the consequences.  You have been warned.

Weighing the Two Evils

Weighing the Two Evils

‘Life’s a stage’ – At least that’s what some believe – and even if that’s not true what is certain is that we are always before an audience, apart from God Almighty, someone is always watching... and what great performance we put on sometimes! This is especially so when situations are presented to us which inevitably reveals our strengths and weaknesses. A startling revelation of how gullible a people we have become.

TSTT is presenting ‘singing sensation’ Beyonce Knowles on a silver platter to this country and one would think she – as was the case with other artist - would have been received with open arms, but on the contrary this is not so. There has been mounting criticism from all corners levelled against TSTT for bringing the ‘international superstar’. Early objections came from the Communication Workers Union who at the moment is engaged in negotiations for better pay packages. Also expressing great concern

are the country’s’ promoters and entertainers, citing it as an insult to the various artforms, especially since TSTT took the decision not to sponsor some Carnival shows. Of course, there are those from amongst the general public who believe this is totally unacceptable and surely there are those who would stop at nothing to get a glimpse of the diva, as was evident on the opening day sale of tickets where all VVIP tickets priced at $1600.00 were sold out.

Now what exactly is the big deal? I think we will would all agree, that if a company other than TSTT was responsible for bringing this “international icon” these very same Communication Workers would have been scrambling for tickets and it would not have mattered to them weather 10 million was spent or 30 million. To add to the joke, these very same workers would either stay away from work or go into relax mode for Carnival thus causing a decrease in production, losing thousands of dollars in revenue. These very same workers would spend hundreds of dollars on Carnival tickets and alcohol and possibly drugs. It forces one to ask what positive use they would have put their money to if they had received that increase. Of course, when it comes to the promoters and entertainers it’s a totally different fight, but is it a fight for the art form or a fight for the hefty returns. Why is it only around Carnival time there is all this hullabaloo surrounding promoters and entertainers? Why not all year through? It is a well known fact that foreign content dominates the airwaves in this country, so why not make a fuss about this throughout the year? I guess the real big question here is who is insulting who?

To those who think that spending 10 to 30 million dollars to have a semi-nude woman entertain us is immoral and a total waste of time and money, hats off to you; but wait... are you not the same group of people in company of your children who would line the streets for Carnival and glue yourself to the television set to be immorally entertained?

Is it not a well known fact that Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is one of the worst immoral shows on earth; it attracts the most amount of drugs and lewd acts; spiralling the spread of communicable diseases and unwanted babies? It really amazes me how we think sometimes.

Now for the ones who think its ok; you are part of the reason why this country is in the mess it is today. You turn a blind eye to what would potentially affect us in the future. You eat, drink and merry yourselves at the expense of the less fortunate and vulnerable in society. You think a demoralized society is cool. What is so cool about a woman thinking the only way she can get people like you to appreciate her is to deliver her message in a semi-nude state? How sick can we ever become? Where is the voice of the women liberalising movement? It is clear by these accounts neither the coming of Beyonce nor Carnival would benefit our twin island state but would rather bankrupt our already dwindling sense of morality. Whatever good therein would be overpowered and drowned by evil. This is not a question of which is the lesser of the two evils but a question of what is right and wrong, what pleases God Almighty and what doesn’t. This type of negative behaviour breeds contempt of God's Law, which is an indication of how gullible our society have become; sick and unaware of the consequences... in reality, the natural course of our actions.
