Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) feels insulated and aggrieved
by government's reaction in answering the call of the Muslim community to address their security concerns and to give them an assurance of comfort and peace of mind. Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) holds the view, the National Security Council's meeting carded for Wednesday 21st March 2019, at the Diplomatic Center, with various selected heads from the Muslim community, is a knee jerk reaction to our recent call for the Commissioner of Police to provide a sense of security for the various Masajid throughout the country and more in particular the recent meeting held by the opposition with various heads of the Muslim community following last Friday's terrorist attack on two Masajid in Christchurch, New Zealand, causing multiple deaths and other serious casualties.

Given the uncaring and insensitive response by Prime Minister the Honorable Dr. Keith Christopher Rowley, when he said in June of 2018; "raids on mosques over the Carnival period were justified after lethal weapons, arms and ammunition were found at the Masjid-ul-Muttaqeen Mosque in Cunupia",  (It was discovered that the guns and ammunition was planted and a raid on the Masjid was already planned, before it was discovered by worshipers whilst conducting maintenance work). All this, after a call was made requesting an apology for the treatment meted out to the Muslims following the announcement of a "Fake Carnival Plot" in 2018, when the human rights and freedoms of 19 Muslim families where violated and abused and our sovereignty compromised, claiming he had credible information about the so called "plot". As if this was not justification enough, they needed another false flag to justify the lie. This begs the question what possibly could the government offer or what assurance can the government give to the Muslim community pending an apology still owing to the Muslim community? Especially now, against the backdrop of the white supremacists attack in Christchurch, New Zealand, which gives a clear indication of the Islamophobic agenda of the West.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) understands that  Minister of Local Government, Senator the Honorable Kazim Hosein, was asked to locate a venue for the meeting event and so it was advertised to take place at the ASJA Compound in Charlieville. This venue was then cancelled and the meeting was moved to the Diplomatic Center in order that only specially invited persons can attend. Those persons excluded are often the ones who are very critical of government policies and would disrupt government' s plan to craftily deceive and mislead the Muslims. This type of "Box Drain Politics" would not be tolerated by this organization.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is of the opinion that Prime Minister, the Honorable Dr. Keith Rowley, insulted and disrespected Local Government Minister, Senator the Honorable Kazim Hosein, in his attempt to reach out and connect with the Muslim community, always placing him in a compromising position. Unlike ex-legal adviser to Prime Minister Keith Rowley, Attorney Nafeesa Mohammed, Mr. Hosein's blind loyalty is costing him a tarnished reputation with the Muslim community, a position he will live to regret.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) considers this meeting to be another Public Relations stunt by this present administration with an aim to attract votes from the unsuspecting Muslim community, a group which by all accounts holds the balance of power in Trinidad and Tobago. Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is advocating a sincere apology from the Prime Minister the Honorable Dr. Keith Rowley, for the 2018 Carnival fiasco and a policy program that will allow for the training and equipping of all religious groups to counter the threat of an invasion and violent extremism in their respective communities.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) already has a such a program ready and waiting to be rolled out in all religious communities. It's an "Armed Intruder Program" aimed at recognizing and preventing security and disaster threats and to identify individuals who may perhaps have violent extremist tendencies and to offer them proper education, guidance and support.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic front) is calling on the Prime Minister Dr. Keith Christopher Rowley to stand up for justice and fairness and for the rights of the Uighur Muslims of China. We are calling on the Prime Minister to make a clear statement and speak out against the many atrocities inflicted on these persons. We are calling on this Rowley led administration to reject the policies of this far Eastern country that is working counter to peace. We demand this government to call on the international community now to stop China from striping Uighur Muslims of their language and culture.

This Heartbreaking human rights violation that is taking place in China, must stop.

According to the UN, around one million Muslims in the Xinjiang region have been rounded up and held in so-called "re-education" centres - camps the Uighurs claim are intended to replace the next generation's Uighur identity with a Chinese one. They’re forced to endure severe political indoctrination and other awful abuses.

This injustice has been going on for far to long. We as being part of the international community must raise our voice and help these victims of unfair practices.

We demand that Prime Minister Keith Rowley on our behalf; the Muslims of Trinidad and Tobago, call on China to show evidence they are not, under the pretext of counter terrorism and religious extremism, holding Uighur Muslims at 're-education' camps.

We further demand the Government withdraw all obligations it holds to Chinese citizens here until our demands are met.

We call on the government to lobby other governments to declare that China is a liability so long as it continues to strip Uighur Muslims of their language and culture. This clearly is a severe human rights violation at the hands of the Chinese government.

We call on the government to urge the international community, they must demand that the Chinese government immediately repatriate all Uighur Muslims back to their homes and to allow the Uighur’s their rights.

If this is not done we will hold the government of Trinidad and Tobago guilty of, dereliction of duty and partly responsible for this crime.  The instruments of our government has failed us and continue to fail us time and time again. We are not prepared to allow this to continue and so should not, the rest of the people.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) will like to express its shock and horror at the present administration in purposely not filing the necessary documents to return to Trinidad, some of its Nationals unjustly incarcerated or detained in Iraq for their participation and involvement in the Islamic state or ISIS, whether as a fighter or otherwise.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) understands that at least 3 of these Trinidadian nationals; women have been given 20-year sentences, but can have their plight overturned should this Government file documents either through the British and South African consulate for their return to their homeland.

The question must be asked how has it, that other countries followed the necessary diplomatic processes to have their nationals return to them? Yet This government has not, despite this information being privy to them since 2017? Is it that this government has deliberately chosen to ignore the pleas of their own citizens? Especially women? Or is it that this government has deliberately decided to turn a blind eye to this situation on the basis it is Muslims?

Can the relevant persons whereby the Attorney General Faris Al Rawi who have boasted of having lineage to Prophet Muhammad (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be with him) and can be seen growing a full beard as that of a Muslim, answer these questions? Can the Attorney General and the Minister of National security Edmund Dillion come clean on this issue?

In essence, what’s the government’s decision now seeing that this information is now public? How do they intend to treat with the issue? If they can at all? And why have the cries of these Muslims fallen on deaf ears? Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) hopes the government can answer these pertinent questions and free our Muslim men and women from oppression and captivity.

In conclusion Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is urging this administration to recognize that we are in the Holy Month of Ramadhan and acting fairly with a national sense of responsibility by way of administering Justice and having compassion towards it citizens would be viewed as an act of goodness by God Almighty and any act of goodness in this auspicious month would be rewarded immensely.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) does not embrace the last series of statements made by the Commissioner of Police. It was noted how quick he was in commending Imam Sheraz of Nur-e-Islam Masjid for his account of what happened, but he never addressed the issue of brutality and injuries exacted on persons in the execution of their duties. Nothing was said about the unconstitutionality of the police actions at the homes of these persons. He spoke of evidence gathering, yet nothing was found. We describe the Acting Police Commissioner's statement as mere window dressing. Nothing more than a PR stunt. Void of substance.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is very upset over the news of the British couple who fled and returned to their country on February 6th 2018, after they were robbed of their phones and rental vehicle, as well as reports about the shooting incident involving the CoP's nephew. The persons held for this "so called" terror plot to disrupt carnival did not commit these acts. As far as I'm concerned these acts - which includes the scant and discourteous manner in which the police and the rental company responded to the British couple's plight - were committed by persons whom the TTPS and the Ministry of National Security ought to be paying attention to. This is the terror which will disrupt the Carnival celebrations and negatively reflect on our nation.

I call on the authorities to immediately release all persons held in this "so called terror plot" and return them safely to their families. These individuals are all innocent, law abiding citizens with strong spiritual upbringing. This is a stain on this administration which will linger on for a very very long time.

The Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is strongly condemning the flagrant and wanton disregard of the state and by extension the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) to further oppress and target Muslims of this country; more specifically Muslim communities and Jamaats which have contributed significantly to the population of Islam, the society as a whole and aides in mass charity efforts in this country.

The Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front)  regards the recent searches by Police officers in the following Masajid (Mosques)-Nur e Islam, Munroe Road, Sangre Grande, Bamboo and Laventille jamaats over the last few hours, as juvenile, baseless, and a clear indication of the vendetta and dislike of the state towards Muslims in this country, not to mention the disrespect and abuse meted out to a number of Muslim men from various parts of the country, who the Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) understands is being detained in a number of several police stations throughout the country for a few days now.

This the Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) fervently believes is a sour and pathetic attempt by the state to persecute Muslims in this country, and under the guise of “raids and searches” disrupt the Muslim Ummah (community) locally.

The Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) asks the following questions:

Why were these ad hoc searches conducted to these reputable Masjids?

Explain why their was a so called search for “devices” from these Masjids? And why wasn’t such searches conducted in other denominational or public places of worship?

Why the unconstitutional detainment of Muslim brothers more than 72 hours with no arrest is still on going?

Why is the state persistent on attacking and disrupting the peaceful practice of Islam in his country?

Why wasn’t “searches for devices” conducted in well known hot spots such as Beetham, Sealots etc. ?

And finally,
Why is the state targeting Muslims in this country by disrupting Masjids and Muslims communities by making false claims that there is a plan a foot that Muslims are planning to disrupt Carnival celebrations? Why single out Muslims?

This cowardly and dastardly actions by the state specifically the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) must not be forgotten by Muslim community, and the following questions must be answered. Are Muslims the only group within the society who does not engage in the Carnival revelry? No, so why target Muslims?

Further the Waajihatul Islamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is calling on head of the TTPS for answers into this persecution attempt and attack on law abiding Muslims in this country.

As for rebuilding of homes either completely destroyed or damaged, brother Isa Abdullah (Tel: +17672764478) is mandated to give a report.  However, preliminary reports indicate around 4 homes in the Carib territory and one in the Roseau community were totally destroyed while 10 homes - subject to correction - are damaged; mostly roofs.

Response to Iqubal Hydal’s Statement in The Trinidad Express

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.

“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyûbihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islâm), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.” (Quran 24:31).

The statements made by Iqubal Hydal to suggest that the Hijab is not a mandate of the Quran and the immediate response and course of action by the Muslims came as no surprise for we are told by our Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “…There will come a trial which will appear… During this trial, a man will be a believer in the morning and an unbeliever by evening, such that people will be in two camps: the camp of faith without hypocrisy and the camp of hypocrisy without faith…

It is appearing that Hydal and his entire group is bent on exposing that hypocrisy. It appears when the Caliph al-Mu'tasim commanded and deployed a massive army to retaliate against the Romans who at the time invaded Malatya, in honour of a Muslim sister who cried out "Wa Mo'atasimah" which translates to "O Mu'tasim", after being captured and unveiled by the Romans has not taught us any lesson when it comes to our Muslim Sisters...

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) contacted Iqubal Haydal and spoke with him regarding his statements. He was quick to point out that even though he is commending the sister (WPC) for challenging the authorities in seeking her right to religious freedom and observance, he is of the opinion it’s not a mandate of the Qur’an.  He further went on to say it is his opinion that it would have been more appropriate for the WPC to fight for the right for all police officers Male and Female to attend the Jumu’ah on Fridays. He said he is not against the wearing of the Hijab, however he is sensing a level of hypocrisy by his critics asking how many of them supported the Muslim WPC, sighting also the sisters who attend the masjid are most times inappropriately dressed.

The statements of Iqubal Hayal will none the less certainly throw open the doors of compromise to those Muslim Brothers and Sisters who are not prepared to stand firm on this issue. This together with our hypocrisy would however weaken our resolve and so would lead to the eventual stripping of all our religious practices.

I am yet to see the rationale of the Muslim response compounded with the fact that in this country we have had so many cases regarding the Hijab, that have been adjudicated and so many before the courts awaiting trial and judgements. How many Muslims are aware of this? How many Muslims are supporting these sisters?

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) have told Hydal, he has intensified the flames of discord between the Muslims and his group.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) also told Hydal, more importantly, he needs to address the Muslim community of this country and thoroughly explain his group’s position on Islam and Muslims as it relates to the Qur’an and The Sunnah and That, he should make it clear where he stands on this issue as this would obviously affect him and his group.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic front) is very saddened by the fatal shooting; execution style of Daniel Bostick; a husband and father, last night at the Jama Masjid, Mucurapo Street San Fernando.

As much as we are disgusted and are not going to tolerate nor accept this dastardly act perpetrated within the sanctity of our holy places we are asking the Muslims to be calm and to take a step back and to ask yourselves the question where are we in all of this, what has been our role and what part are we playing in this new spate of violence within the Muslim community. We have no one else to blame but ourselves. We hold the keys to bridging those gaps and reconnecting with the society but because our lack of leadership and lack of vision we have once again found ourselves at the mercy of those who govern us.

As much as we would want to retaliate we must of course first understand what occurred at the Masjid in San Fernando. There is a distinct international and local flavor here and we must be very careful of falling victim to Zionist propaganda; as we have consistently done in the past.

“All Muslims in Pakistan and other countries should be executed even if it meant wiping out whole nations and the rest of them should then move to Saudi Arabia.” said current Cabinet Minister Devant Maharaj (Sept., 3rd 2004) while addressing a crowd at Jenny's on the Boulevard. PM Persad- Bissessar in September 2014 agreed to sponsor the UN Security Council resolution on foreign terrorist fighters. FIU head, Susan Francois; two days ago, while speaking at an anti-money laundering/counter financing of terrorism awareness seminar held at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Port of Spain FIU said "The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has detected an increase in terrorism financing. Minister of National Security Carl Alfonso says he will sanction soldiers to go into Enterprise, Chaguanas, once a request is made by the police. Bearing in mind that an election is imminent,are we seeing the makings of another State of Emergency?

If we must retaliate and strike back, don’t strike at the artery strike at the heart; the deceitful heart, the diseased heart, the corrupt heart and all those that influence it.

How about we start a 'Free the Captives Program' or a Free the Captives Initiative'... Our brothers are locked away in a Venezuelan jail...  They are not only hungry and in need but trapped as well.. So what did our beloved Prophet (s) say about freeing the Captives? Perhaps we need to remind ourselves what's the purpose of this month.. This month is not about eating and drinking and merriment. . It is about self restraint and curbing our desires... it's about understanding and appreciating the sufferings of others.. This is the second Ramadhan our beloved brothers will be spending in captivity away from their wives and children. . So next time you put that morsel of food in your mouth and wash it down with that sweet drink.. Next time you hug your child or your spouse. . Know that your beloved brothers who are locked away in Venezuela and their children and their wives don't have that luxury .. How can we spend this Ramadhan and live with ourselves knowing this and what are we doing as a Muslim brotherhood to resolve this... What if it where your very own would you not have wanted the Muslims to do something? I'm ashamed and worried about our state of affairs. . We seem to have our priorities mixed up... If you are comfortable. .I'm not. . If you are happy. . I'm not. . If you feel safe.. I'm not. . Probably we live in different worlds. .

“Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed.” The Prophet was asked: “It is right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” He replied: “By preventing him from oppressing others.”{Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Hadith 624}

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Feed the hungry, visit the sick and set free the captives." - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Hadith 552

"(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.'" - The Holy Quran, 76:8-9

Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection .”{Book 43, Volume 3, Number 622: Sahih Buhari}

“Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed.” The Prophet was asked: “It is right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” He replied: “By preventing him from oppressing others.”{Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Hadith 624}

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Feed the hungry, visit the sick and set free the captives." - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Hadith 552

"(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.'" - The Holy Quran, 76:8-9

There is no Salvation Except through Faith in the Qur'an

"Say (O Muhammad ) "O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! You have nothing (as regards guidance) till you act according to the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), and what has (now) been sent down to you from your Lord (the Qur'an)." Verily, that which has been sent down to you (Muhammad ) from your Lord increases in many of them their obstinate rebellion and disbelief. So be not sorrowful over the people who disbelieve." (Qur'an 5 : 68)

By 'establishing the Torah and the Gospel' is meant observing them honestly and making them the law of life.

It should be noted here that the Scriptures which comprise the Bible consist of two kinds of writings. One was composed by the Jewish and Christian authors themselves. The second consists of those portions which have been recorded as either the injunctions of Allah or as the utterances of Moses, Jesus and other Prophets. Such portions are those in which it has been categorically stated that Allah said so and so, or that a particular Prophet said so and so. If we were to exclude the portions belonging to the first category and carefully study those belonging to the second we would notice that their teachings are not perceptibly different from those of the Qur'an. It is true that the second category has not altogether escaped the tamperings of translators, scribes and exegetes, and the errors of oral transmitters. Nevertheless, one cannot help feeling that the teachings embodied in the second category call man to the same pure monotheism as the Qur'an, that they propound those very beliefs propounded by the Qur'an and that they direct man to the same way of life as that to which the Qur'an seeks to direct him. Hence, had the Jews and the Christians adhered to the teaching attributed in their Scriptures to Allah and the Prophets they would certainly have become a truth-loving and truth-oriented group of people and would have been able to see in the Qur'an that very light which illuminates the earlier divine Scriptures. There would then have been no question of their abandoning their religion in order to follow the Prophet (peace be on him). To follow him would have caused neither break nor discontinuity; they would simply have gone one stage further along the same road.

Instead of reflecting on this seriously and dispassionately, they were seized by a fit of intransigence which intensified their opposition.

Allah says: O Muhammad, say,

(O People of the Scripture! You have nothing...) meaning no real religion until you adhere to and implement the Tawrah and the Injil. That is, until you believe in all the Books that you have that Allah revealed to the Prophets. These Books command following Muhammad and believing in his prophecy, all the while adhering to his Law. Before, we explained Allah's statement,

(Verily, the revelation that has come to you from your Lord makes many of them increase in rebellion and disbelief.)

(So do not grieve for the people who disbelieve), Do not be sad or taken aback by their disbelief. Allah said next,

(Surely, those who believe) referring to Muslims,

(those who are the Jews) who were entrusted with the Tawrah,

(and the Sabians. ..) a sect from the Christians and Magians who did not follow any particular religion, as Mujahid stated. As for the Christians, they are known and were entrusted with the Injil. The meaning here is that if each of these groups believed in Allah and the Hereafter, which is the Day of Judgement and Reckoning, and performed good actions, which to be so, must conform to Muhammad's Law, after Muhammad was sent to all mankind and the Jinns. If any of these groups held these beliefs, then they shall have no fear of what will come or sadness regarding what they lost, nor will grief ever affect them. We discussed a similar Ayah before in Surat Al-Baqarah (2:62).

Freeing Our Muslim Brothers In Venezuela

Statements Of The Classical Scholars On Freeing Muslim Captives:

The scholars have many positions on this subject, but they are agreed upon it being obligatory to free the Muslim prisoners of war, by either sacrificing ourselves or by our wealth.

Ibn Qudamah Al-Hanbali said (Al-Mughni 9/228):

It is obligatory to pay the ransom money for the Muslim prisoners, if it is possible.

This was also said by Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, Imam Malik and Ishaq. It has been narrated from Ibn Zubair that he asked Al-Hassan bin Ali about freeing the prisoners. Al-Hassan replied: â€œIt is obligatory upon the entire Earth on which he was fighting.â€‌

It has been established from the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) that he said: â€œFeed the hungry, visit the sick and free the prisoner.â€‌

It has been narrated by Saeed through his chain from Hibban bin Jabalah, that the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said: â€œIndeed it is obligatory upon the Muslims to free their captives or to pay their ransoms.â€‌

The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) wrote a letter advising the Muhajireen and Ansar: â€œTo restrain the enemy soldiers in their fortresses and to free the Muslim captives with goodness.â€‌

The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) paid the ransom for two Muslim men with a man who he (SAWS) had taken from Bani Uqail, and he paid the ransom for two people with a woman who was given as a gift by Salamah bin Al-Akwa.

These evidences show how the prisoners were freed, not specifying any particular way. However, if we are able to free the prisoners through a particular way then it becomes obligatory upon us do take that course. This is what the jurists did and they said: “It is compulsory upon us to even wage war in order to release the Muslim captives, if we are in a position to wage war.â€‌

Imam An-Nawawi said (Ar-Raudah 10/216):

If the enemy capture a Muslim or two, then is it equivalent to invading a Muslim land? There are two opinions on this. The first opinion is no, because the troubling of one Muslim soldier is insignificant. The more correct and other opinion of the two is yes, because the sanctity of a single Muslim is greater than the sanctity of an entire state. Therefore, if the Islamic State is close to the location where the prisoner was captured, then it should release the prisoner and exact a fine from those who have captured him. (Otherwise, paying the ransom money is wajib (compulsory) if we can free the prisoner by it).

Al-Qurtubi (2/26) said:

Our scholars have said that ransoming the prisoners with money is wajib (obligatory), even if one dirham does not remain in the Islamic Treasury. Ibn Khuwaiz Mindad has confirmed the existence of verses of the Quran that indicate the obligation of releasing the prisoners. It has also been narrated from the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) that he ransomed the prisoners and ordered others to do so as well. This has also been course taken by the Muslims and their consensus that it is incumbent to free the prisoners by taking money from the Islamic Treasury, and if that is not possible, then it becomes compulsory as a collective duty: if one person executes it, the sin is lifted from the shoulders of the rest of the Muslims.

Related from the author of The Book of Jihad and Fighting in Islamic Politics from the author of As-Seer Al-Kabeer with its commentary (3/1583):

It is OK to exchange both male and female non-Muslim prisoners who are in the hands of the Muslims, for Muslim prisoners. This is the opinion held by Abu Yusuf, Muhammad and it is the strongest opinion held by Abu Hanifah (may Allah be pleased with him).

Ibn Juzai Al-Maliki said (Page 172 of Qawaneen Al-Ahkam Ash-Shar’iyyah):

It is necessary to rescue the Muslim prisoners from the hands of the disbelievers by fighting them. If the Muslims are unable to do so, then it becomes compulsory upon them to pay the ransom money. It is incumbent on a rich person to ransom himself and on the Imam (leader), to pay the ransom money for the poor people, from the Islamic Treasury. If they still fall short, then it becomes compulsory to take from the wealth of all the Muslims, even if it finishes their wealth.

Al-Izz bin Abdus-Salam said (Page 97 from Ahkam Al-Jihad wa Fadailihi):

Rescuing the Muslim prisoners from the hands of the disbelievers is one of the best means of coming close to Allah. Some of the scholars have said: “If even one Muslim is captured, it becomes compulsory upon us to persevere in fighting the disbelieving enemy until we either free the Muslim captives or destroy the disbelieving enemy. Therefore, what do you say if they capture a large number of Muslims!?â€‌

Ibn Nuhaas transmits from An-Nawawi in Ar-Raudah (2/838 from Mashari Al-Ashwaq ila Masari’ Al-Ushaq):

Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said (Al-Fatawa 28/635):

Freeing the prisoners is one of the greatest compulsory deeds and spending ransom money and other means towards that, is one of the greatest ways to come close to Allah.

Ibn Al-Arabi said (Ahkam Al-Quran 2/440):

Unless the prisoners are from the weak and oppressed, then the State should be steadfast in their cause. To help them with our bodies is wajib (obligatory) and no one should remain behind until they all leave to rescue them or spend all of their wealth to rescue them. This was said by Imam Malik and all of the scholars. Verily, to Allah we belong and to Him we must return, if we leave our brothers in the hands of the enemy and they have wealth, weapons, number, strength and authority.

Ibn Hajar Al-Haithami said (Tuhfah Al-Muhtaj 9/237) said:

If the enemy captures a single Muslim, it becomes wajib (obligatory) on every one who has the ability, to rush to their rescue (even without seeking anyone’s permission). It is apparent that it is compulsory on everyone, similar to the situation where the enemy invades our land. Moreover, saving our brothers is of a higher priority, as the sanctity of a Muslim is greater (than the sanctity of a State).

Abu Bakr Al-Jassas (Ahkam Al-Quran 1/58) said:

The ransoming of Muslim prisoners is one of the obligatory deeds that has been established upon us. Al-Hajjaj bin Artaah narrated about this ruling from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) wrote a letter to the Muhajireen and Ansar, to detain the enemy prisoners in their stronghold, ransom their prisoners for something befitting and for peacemaking amongst the Muslims. Mansoor narrated from Shaqeeq bin Salamah from Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari that the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said: â€œFeed the hungry, spread the greeting (salam), visit the sick and free the prisoner.â€‌

These two serve as evidences for freeing the prisoners because the word, â€کAl-Aani’ in Arabic refers to prisoner. Imran bin Hussain and Salamah bin Al-Akwa’ narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) ransomed pagans for Muslim prisoners.

Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani said (Fath Al-Bari 6/167):

The saying of Imam Al-Bukhari, â€کThe Chapter on Freeing Prisoners’ refers to freeing them from the hands of the enemy by money or by other means. The word â€کAl-Fakak’, where the fa (Arabic letter) from the word has a fatha (it is also permissible for it to take a kasrah), means to free. This word is mentioned in two hadiths. The first one is the hadith of Abu Musa: â€œFree the prisoner.â€‌ Ibn Battal said that freeing the prisoners is compulsory on a collective duty (Fard Kifayah). This opinion is also held by the majority of the scholars.

I called the Arima Police and It was confirmed that 7 brothers and 2 sisters were held on enquiries... I enquired about their status and was told they are being kept in separate cells except the sisters who are being held together in one cell. They were all given dinner.

The exercise was carried out by the La Horquetta Task Force; Sgt. Waldorf. Three of the brothers were taken to La Horquetta and the rest including the sisters are being held in Arima....

I sent a message to both the top CoP and Minister Gary Griffith to Please ensure that justice and fairness is observed in this matter and that full respect be given to these brothers and sisters... Especially the Sisters and to recognize that this is the holy month of Ramadaan and that the Eid celebrations is just next week and that considerations must be given to their religious rights; as regards the prayer and the fast...

Our brothers/husbands/sons was again denied their day in court yesterday; another case of 'Justice Delayed, Justice Denied'... The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry has forced another postponement in the release of our nationals to the 29th of July 2014... Reasons given to the lawyer; Jose was that the translator didn't come and also that the detention center was not notified to take the men to court... All this, even though we were given a 99% assurances by the lawyers that they would have been released yesterday.

Our Ambassador in Venezuela was contacted who informed us that he was unaware of this and that he was attending a funeral after which he will contact the lawyers. He however asked that we inform him of any further developments; what is the role and function of our Embassy? Aren't they the ones who ought to inform us? Subsequently the Minister of National Security was contacted who also asked what can he do to help...

It must be kept in mind a diplomatic note was sent from our foreign ministry to the Venezuelan foreign ministry last week and an acknowledgement of receipt was forwarded to our Embassy and the lawyers.

It is quite clear these people just don't care...

I want to remind all those who are reading this, even though this Holy Month of Ramadaan is very virtuous and holds within it tremendous blessings; it is not a sacred month... The greatest battle in Islamic history was fought in this month... And the believers won...

Our next move will be decisive, effective and will leave a permanent impression in the minds of all those responsible...

What Is There To Celebrate?

Eid is a day of celebration… The question is what is there to celebrate?

How can one celebrate Eid when the Muslims of the 21st century hear that there has been an earthquake in Indonesia, Pakistan or a Tsunami along the borders of Asia but do not feel pained? When they hear of such atrocities or sufferings happening to their beloved Muslim brothers across the world there is no shared grief or significant compassion? Why is it that today when we hear that our Muslim brothers and sisters around the world are being tortured mercilessly, their land and possessions destroyed/occupied; their children are being killed/enslaved in poverty and human rights are being annihilated, that we feel no pain? Why do we allow our Muslim brothers and sisters to languish away in prison awaiting trial? Have we no care for them? Why do we waste so much food when we see images of our Muslim brothers and sisters and their children starving to death? Have we no conscience? 

While we are living and enjoying the comforts and luxuries of the 21st century, our brothers and sisters are being oppressed all around us. It has become such that we have become immune to hearing such afflictions. It has become such that we find it hard to shed even one tear.

My dear Muslims, whoever you are and wherever you are, have we forgotten the Hadith of Rasullullah(S)?

Rasullullah(S) giving an example of Muslim unity is reported to have said in a Hadith:

“The Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain”

So we the Muslim Ummah, whatever color, nationality or gender, wherever we are, are like this body. If we hear that any part of this Ummah is being oppressed, then we should feel this pain.

My dear Muslims, our oppressed brothers and sisters are crying out for help. They find that the Muslims of the 21st century are asleep and there is no one to help them. The reason why we the Muslims are collapsing is because we do not have any love amongst us. We harbor hatred for one another and our worldly matters and materialistic pursuits have taken over our lives.

 My eyes are filled with the horror of the images of mayhem and slaughter of my Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world; My heart is filled with the sorrow, pain and loss of my Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine; I go into shock every time I think of my Starving brothers and sisters in Somalia; My limbs becomes weak on account of the genocide of the Muslim race; my fingers are tired of writing for my sisters who are being stripped of their dignity across the globe; my feet are swollen standing in solidarity with them; I tremble with fear when I think of my Muslim brothers and sisters in prison; I cry for the Mujahideen and the sacrifice and struggles they endure. How can I celebrate when all this is happening to me? I am in pain, I am in sorrow, I am suffering… There is no way I can celebrate… Sorry…
