Media Release: The Killing of Businessmen Haniff Mohammed

Media Release:

Re: The Killing of Businessmen Haniff Mohammed

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) mourns the death of our brother Haniff Mohammed, who was murdered in cold blood, at the Junon Street, Masjid in Couva. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un... "Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return". May he rest in peace! May Allah bless and comfort his family and relatives during this time of grief. In this holy month of Ramadhan in which the gates of Paradise are opened, may he enter it with ease, and may he be forbidden to enter the gates of Hell which are closed in this month. May Allah give him eternal rest and his love-ones the strength to bear the great pain. May the care and love of those around them provide comfort and peace to get them through the days ahead. Aameen.

As much as we are disgusted and are not going to tolerate nor accept this dastardly act perpetrated within the sanctity of our holy places. We recall within the last four years other killings of similar nature and circumstances; all within the holy month of Ramadhan.

Daniel Bostic, 35, of Drayton Street, San Fernando, was murdered on the compound of the Jama Masjid, Mucarapo Street, San Fernando on Wed 1st July 2015.

Cornelius “Tractor” Peters, 34, of Maturita Village, Arima, was murdered on the compound of Masjid al Falah, Arima on Sat 9th June 2018.

All these murders bore some resemblance which alludes to the character and lifestyle of some of these individuals; both the victims and the perpetrators of these crimes.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) calls on Muslims to return to their religion and to adhere to the teachings of the Qur'an and the practices of our beloved prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). The same goes for all persons; return to your religion! How can we expect for others to respect our spaces of worship when we ourselves are disrespectful in them? We violate the teaching of the scriptures, calling the displeasure and wrath of the Almighty God and present ourselves within our places of worship and use it as a cover for our indifferent ways. Our religious leaders who are aware of these individuals should be held accountable for their actions. In most cases, they turn a blind eye to what's happening under their watch. They refuse to call out the wrongs of these individuals because they perhaps benefit from them. Imagine Hours after businessman Haniff Mohammed was gunned down after offering midday prayers at the Junon Street, Masjid in Couva on Friday, four Muslim men between the ages of 18 and 35, were held for an alleged kidnapping at a Masjid in Longdenville Chaguanas.

The comparison made by Concerned Muslims of TT PRO Imtiaz Mohammed said the murder of Mohammed has made him reflect on the mass killings in New Zealand.

After the New Zealand massacre, the media asked him, if he felt the same thing can happen here, he said, "don't rule it out". "And today we have the brutal and violent murder in the Junon Street Masjid,” he said. This is exactly the type of rhetoric used by some of our leaders as a cover for what's, in fact, an indictment against us. It is this shallow thinking of our leaders without in debt thought and analysis that gives rise to rancor within our communities.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) contends that these brazen acts of violence are in ways linked to the support and involvement of corrupt police officers and corrupt politicians. Returning to our religion is in no way turning the other cheek its, in fact, the direct opposite. By so doing we'll push back the criminals in a place unfamiliar to them thereby forcing them to change their ways. This will certainly help stamp out the corruption both within the police and amongst the politicians.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) states with conviction, we have no one else to blame but ourselves. We hold the keys to bridge those gaps and reconnect with the society, but because of our lack of leadership and lack of vision we have once again found ourselves at the mercy of evil.

Media Release:

Re: Murder of Senior Counsel Dana Seetahal

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) strongly condemns the assassination of Senior Counsel Dana Seetahal. This act not only speaks to the gross incompetence of our protective services but also more importantly to the lack of political will by this PP administration to address the disintegration of the social and moral fabric our society.

We want to caution the police in their investigation of this murder and to warn them against chasing red herrings. We are very much concerned that they are pursuing innocent individuals and would subsequently arrest innocent persons for that murder as they have done in the past.

The information which they claim to have on the Carapo man is faulty and misleading.

Are these the same police who could not have detected a dead child in a barrel after spending 7 hours in the same  room where the said barrel was? Are these the same police who after a conviction of five persons in the 700 million drug fine on Monos Island still can't tell us who owned the drugs? What about the murder of Ramishchand's daughter? What about Akeel Chambers? What about the eight year old found murdered in the drain; where an innocent police officer was held and won his case? The real murderer still walks free!  At the time the Prime Minister vowed the murderer will be held and brought to justice. What about the drugs in the container of chicken? And just in recent times the coke in juice cans? The Debideen murder in Grand Bazaar? The examples are too numerous to contemplate.

Are these the same police who are telling us today that they have a suspect? Informing us that someone in prison called the shot? Well tell us too what was the motivate; informing us that calls were intercepted; well then you did know the SC's life was threatened; why didn't you protect her.

If the police and this government do not want a scandal on their hands they better know what they doing; I have already passed on certain information to the authorities; the ball is in their court.

Keyanna Cumberbatch and Jacob Monroe; the Bloody Hands of Government.

PRESS RELEASE:

Re: Keyanna Cumberbatch and Jacob Monroe; the Bloody Hands of Government.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is appalled by the findings of the autopsy on six-year-old Keyanna Cumberbatch who were found dead in a barrel at her home.

The blood of six-year-old Keyanna Cumberbatch and one-year-old Jacob Monroe is on the hands of this government.

State agencies have failed and continue to fail with their intervention programmes and as such lead to the decay of these two beautiful gems (Islands) of the Caribbean.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) calls on the government to act now before the tears of our nation's children dry.

These children did not die today; they died the day government refused to recognize the red flag when they saw it...

As regards the individuals guilty of committing these gruesome acts; an apology is in order from the present administration for their lack of foresight and their inability to intervene in a timely manner but with every crime there are consequences and may God Almighty have mercy on both of you.

Is this An Eccentric State of Emergency?

Is this An Eccentric State of Emergency?
By Umar Abdullah

A burning question as to who stands to benefit; the Government or the people?

Think of the people in this Twin Island State as meat in a pressure pot being cooked for the capitalist masters; with the pressure pot representing the Government. If the mechanism in the pressure pot (Government) to contain the meat (the people) is not functioning and working properly; what you will find is that the meat (the people) will explode creating a big mess; destroying the pressure pot (Government) in the process.
It is an undisputed fact that murders have been rampant in this twin Island state but isn’t oppression worst than slaughter? Isn’t crime a direct result of poverty, unfair and unjust treatment and undue pressure on the working class?
There is no crime worst than the hungry bellies of our children.
There is no crime worst than the empty book bags of our youths.
There is no crime worst than the fear and the uncertainty the future holds for our fellow men.
This oppression includes psychological trauma, and mental illness, it includes preventing access to basic living amenities, denying rights and fair play, preventing access to the freedoms we were once accustomed to, and burdening us with a high cost of living and unemployment. In all of these instances this oppressive PP Government is denying access, and driving the people out of places where they have a right to be. All this is being imposed on us, through what is obviously a systemic method of  mass torture in getting rid of  and downplaying those individuals who would stand up for their rights with impunity right before the eyes of the international community, and also the international rights organisations, and the supposedly civilized world, that has caused this Peoples Partnership to be among the most hated and distrusted Government in the history of Trinidad and Tobago, and its ministers most despised.
To prevent access to justice and fairness is punishing than slaughter. Such prevention of access can perhaps be explained as creating an environment that is not conducive to education, or the practice of right conduct. This could be something as simple as making it impossible for a person to survive without committing acts like stealing, selling drugs, or prostitution, etc. And /or it could be as complex as creating such material, psychological and spiritual hardships that a previously law abiding people begin to question goodness, their sense of belonging, and their right to exist, which could be explained as tests beyond what the people can bear.
From all this it is clear that the PP Government had no intentions of protecting the citizenry of this twin State but rather to protect their seat of power. Having considered the pending treat of the trade unions, the uprising in the middle east and most recently the riots in England; they were not willing to take that chance, so by implementing the State of Emergency they would give unto themselves all the power taken away from the people leaving them helpless and void of all rights and privileges; oppressing them even more.
This oppressive Government, whether obvious to the people, is to cause law abiding persons to abandon their patriotism, in allowing themselves to be governed, by civil disobedience and the commission of crimes to sustain and protect their own. This as they see it is what is best in this life.
It is hard to see and read that everyday this PP Government is violating the rights of poor people treating them as sub humans, without souls with more detentions, while refusing to address their social ills and their brutal and illegal economic hardships as what took place with Clico and the Hindu Credit Union. It seems that this PP Government is persistent in its disregard to Human Rights, Justice and Fairness.
What is not so obvious is the fact that the State of Emergency is also destroying this twin Island state. It’s citizens, who include Indians as well as Muslims, Christians, Africans, Syrians and others, separate from the political oligarchy, are equally victims of the Capitalist fanaticism and racism that is threatening our entire Twin State.
Where was the state of emergency when food prices soared; when mothers could not have brought milk for their babies?
Where the state of emergency when poor people was was turned away from the hospitals; when people were dying on the corridors of the hospitals?
Where was the state of emergency when helpless people were marooned in their homes due to flooding; when they had nowhere to go after losing everything?
Our goal is not only saving the innocent from this wicked and oppressive PP Government, but we must also seek to save them. We all must support this idea recognizing and opposing the serious danger of the oppression that inflicts suffering not only upon the innocent, but also on the oppressors and perpetrators of violence and crime.
We should be sincere in our intent and purpose and put a stop once and for all to the cunning and oppression of this oppressive PP Government if we are to change our future for a better life.

Media Release: The death of our Bro. Imtiaz Ali

Media Release:
The death of our Bro. Imtiaz Ali

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is appalled by the dastardly and gruesome crime which resulted in the death of our Bro. Imtiaz Ali... It is an ugly reflection of the face of this New Peoples Partnership Government and their aimless efforts in mending this broken society, more so it reflects the corrupt and horrible state of the Muslim community in this Twin Island State of ours.

We therefore call upon the Commissioner of Police to arrest this situation and bring the perpetrators to answer for their diabolic and cynical crime. We call upon all Muslim groups and members of the general public to assist in whatever way they can to bring an end to this nightmare.

Fifteen (15) murders in Twelve (12) days is nothing to be proud about.

Anyone with information regarding the circumstances and or the perpetrators of this dastardly and gruesome crime which resulted in the death of our Bro. Imtiaz Ali can call Umar Abdullah @ 787-0765 or 365-6253.
