The United States, Russia and the rest of the international community are now weighing in on Venezuela's  vulnerability. This as a result of this region's failure to address Nicolas Maduro's hegemony and his chronically inept handling of his country’s worsening social and economic crisis which provided no support for his tenuous hold on power. He quickly Rose to what can be called an international pariah, referred to as a dictator by his opponents and also by the heads of numerous foreign governments.

Owing to the fact that Maduro prevented the country’s two most popular opposition politicians; Henrique Capriles and Leopoldo López, from participating in the election, with a voter turnout of only 46%, receiving one and half million votes fewer than he did in 2013 does very little to boost his credibility.

Maduro hascommitted many crimes against humanity. This is evident in a 400 page report sent to the International Criminal Court by Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States.

The report documents 131 alleged murders perpetrated by security forces or pro-government armed civilian groups — known as “colectivos” — during street protests in 2014 and 2017. It identified 8,292 executions outside of the judicial process since 2015 and more than 12,000 people arbitrarily detained since the presidential elections of 2013, including more than 1,300 political prisoners.

The report states, “The widespread and systematic targeting of opponents of the regime or suspected ‘enemies of the state,’ constitute the crime against humanity,” and that “These acts, for which there is no legal basis, did not take place spontaneously or in isolation, but instead reflect a policy put in place by the Government of Venezuela through acts directed by the highest State authorities.”

Luisa Ortega, who was fired after breaking with the Maduro's government, also appeared at The Hague where she filed a complaint, based on the 8,290 deaths she says took place between 2015 and 2017 at the hands of officials who received instructions from the government.

“They happened under the orders of the executive branch, as part of a social cleansing plan carried out by the government,” she told reporters.

“Nicolas Maduro and his government should pay for these crimes against humanity just as they must also pay for the hunger, misery and hardship they’ve inflicted on the Venezuelan people.”

She added: “We have been forced to turn to an international organisation, because there is no justice in Venezuela.” 

Against this backdrop and looking at Trinidad and Tobago's policy position on treating with criminals, it's difficult to understand why this present administration continues to recognize, support and sign deals with this criminal. Never were there checks and balances put in place to keep Maduro in line, and Trinidad and Tobago being Venezuela's closest neighbor should have been the one leading this charge.

Contrary to Prime Minister Rowley, we have no sovereign position. As was the case when the Jordanian authorities bypassed us and shared information with the United States regarding our citizens imprisoned in that country.

The blood and the suffering of the Venezuelan people are on the hands of this country's elite politicians and Stuart Young was correct when he said "sovereign states should respect sovereign states but what he failed to point out was that and is absolutely necessary that sovereign states should earn that respect.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is urging all world leaders to intervene and bring to an end the political crisis in Venezuela by encouraging Maduro to agree to fresh, free and fair elections and to allow for the Venezuelan people to decide their own fate, under the watchful eyes of a special elections observer team, selected by the United Nations. Venezuela's sovereignty has been compromised and as such the only and best way to regain the confidence of a sovereign state is to allow for free and fair elections.

The Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is condemning statements made by Attorney General Faris Al Rawi in a telephone interview with the Express newspaper on Saturday 10 November 2018.

The AG is quoted as stating, “
THIS PARTICULAR CASE WAS NOT UNDER MY GENERAL WATCH”

Further, the AG went on to state, that “ I am not surprised, it is not a landmark judgement. It is not new”

It’s on this premises Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is outraged over these statements. And will like to clarify that this judgment was, in fact, a landmark ruling, pertaining to the allowance by a judge to allow Special Reserve Police, Sharon ROOP to wear her hijab on duty.

This judgement sets the precedent for future cases where religious groups and its members would no longer be victimized or oppressed to wear their religious apparel or symbols in public or on the workplace.

In fact, this judgement not only is a landmark ruling for Muslims in this country but other religious groups, as it was also stated in that judgement that the Rosary, rakhi, sindoor and cross can be worn by its respective members in public or on the workplace.

Therefore, for AG AL Rawi to state, it was not under his watch, begs the question, had it been under his watch, would he have opposed such a case or ruling? This we call on the AG to publicly clarify.

Further, Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) lauds the efforts of Attorney’s at law on this matter, Anand Ramlogan and Gerald Ramdeen for their research and efforts.

To this end, Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) sees this ruling as being beneficial to any society and a progress towards religious tolerance. Any plural society that is matter would advance to such a cause. This judgement is evident of T&T’s steps towards international maturity and unity and tolerance of all religious groups and its members.

The extrajudicial killing of Jelani Martins is not sitting well with Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front). This act of homicide by the TTPS is going to tarnish and deliver a heavy blow to an already ugly image and will further degrade the public perception of the entire Service. The TTPS has clearly shown its inability to act positively and appropriately to curb the exploding crime rate and the inherent social and economic challenges. The TTPS seems to be evolving into a plague with a purpose to destroy the poor family structure which is the basic building block of society.

From the information received, we are of the firm belief that Officer Khan and his men should be investigated for the homicide of Jelani Martins and the unaccounted $21,500 which he had on his person. Sheldon the car dealer was taken into custody. A story we understand is now being concocted to say Jelani went to Rob Sheldon and Sheldon shot him.

We are calling on the Acting Commissioner of Police to launch an independent investigation into the killing of Jelani Martins and to immediately suspend the officers involved. We have already contacted the head of the PCA; David West who is awaiting an official complaint on Monday. Witnesses and video footage would be made available.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) would not stand idly by in the face of an act which is bound to erode public trust in our security forces. This approach to battling the challenges of crime and corruption in our nation must be reviewed. Those responsible for this behaviour must be brought to account and pay a heavy price.

In Response to Kevin Baldeosingh's Commentary in the Guardian Newspaper which was published on Sunday 27th May 2017 Entitled "Hijabonomics Explained" in which he suggested "Why then does she simply not remove her Hijab so she can get the job" Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is saying this is an attack on the dignity and modesty of all women. What Kevin is suggesting is that all women should strip themselves and compromise their true worth in order to get a job in this country. This is synonymous with prostitution.

Baldeosingh has crossed the line to suggest such, and enough is enough! We are calling for his immediate dismissal. If this is not done Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) together with the entire Muslim Community of Trinidad and Tobago will have no reason but to believe Guardian Media Limited and its' editors views the Muslim Community of Trinidad and Tobago with scorn and disgust.

It appears as though Guardian Media Limited its' editors and Kevin Baldeosingh takes great pleasure in attacking and ridiculing the Muslim community during their most auspicious occasions; the last attempt was on Eid-ul-Fitr 2015 and this present Ramadhaan. We are not going to tolerate this blatant disregard of religious freedom especially in this holy month of Ramadhaan.

Our National Anthem which is a symbol of Our nation's sovereignty boasts of "Where every creed and race shall find an equal place". The Hijab also is a symbol; a symbol of God's sovereignty on Earth. We will be damned to allow anyone to suggest the removal of or attack our symbols.  

The Devil is chained during the Month of Ramadhaan but there are human manifestations of his handiwork. This commentary is laced with a poisonous blend of bigotry and racial discrimination to say the least. This commentary was done in bad taste, lacks substance and void of any positive contribution. It is a venomous attack on identity and Culture. 

The Guardian Media Limited definitely has to do something about this plague that has infected the integrity of this media House. I'm also calling  for a full retraction of this commentary and is further calling on and challenging the Guardian Media Ltd to apologise in like manner to sister Aisha Sabur, to all Muslims and to all women of Trinidad and Tobago.

She was truly an inspiration in all of our lives and she will surely be missed; remembering her wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. We as nation will never forget the laughter. May she rest in peace! May God Almighty bless and comfort her family and reletives during this time of grief.  May God Almighty give her eternal rest and her love-ones the strength to bear the great pain. Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) condemns with scorn the release and promotion of the American based film entitled 'Innocence of the Muslims', as it seeks to demoralize the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing be upon him) and his Ummah and to deflate the efforts of the Muslims in bringing about a culture of peace and lawfulness within our communities.

We are warning that the American Embassy in Port of Spain is under threat and is calling on the Government of this Twin Island State to publicly condemn in the strongest terms the release and promotion of this film. We also call on this PP Government to call on the American Consulate in Port Of Spain - Ms. Walters to publicly apologize to the Muslims of this Twin Island State and to the rest of the Muslim World. This; so as to change the perception and what generally concerns the Muslims.

A Warning to the New Government of Trinidad and Tobago

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah would like to inform the Nation that at no point in time did we ever support any Political Party in the 2010 General Elections. We voted for no one. We see this act of voting in Democratic Elections as Haram which is a violation of our God given rights and obligations.

So the question is asked why are Muslims being encouraged towards voting in general elections in the west is it because of Fear or some interests? And those who have been encouraged to vote for their interests what did they get in return? 

In America they got:

·         The invasion and destruction Iraq.

·         The Invasion and destruction of Afghanistan.

·         The occupation of Palestine

·         Guantanamo. 

·         An American control Pakistan.

·         The banning of Hijabs in schools 

In the UK they got:

·         The rogue state of Israel.

·         Traitors

·         Two million dead in Iraq.

·         An attack on Islamic values and rules.

In France they got:

·         The banning of the Hijab and Burka

In Belgium they got:

·         The Banning of the Burka

In Switzerland they got:

·         The banning of the Minarets

Muhammad reminded Muslims that “The believer is not bitten from the same hole twice.” How many more times do we need to be bitten before we realise?  Even those that have tried to get involved and participated have been tossed aside as they hadn’t abandoned Islam enough and those that changed aim to change Islam.

Political parties contradict Islam and also give legislative authority to man besides Allah. Muslims should secure their Islamic interest politically but politically within the means that Islam allows. Islam does not permit Muslims to vote in none Islamic based elections.

Whilst elections and voting for a political leader is committed in Islam it is only permitted for an Islamic leadership and within the Islamic System, no such system exists today this is the burning problem and vital issue for the Muslims globally. 

·         For those that bring Yusuf as proof for voting in an un-Islamic election, it should be known that “the laws of the previous prophets are not applicable today.  Even if it were accepted, it must not contradict the laws that Muhammad came with. 

·         For those that use the example of the Muslims that immigrated to Abyssinia; the Muslims never participated in the political process or voted for Najashi.

·         For those that vote on the basis of the lesser of two evils.  This is linked to necessity at the point of life and death and not simply hardship or its presumption. 

How can Muslims vote for local or national interest at the expense of the interests of their global ummah? 

How Muslims can votes for a manifesto that contradicts Islam and compromises Allah’s’ sovereignty? 

Muslims must be political upon Islam, forging unity and self-reliance.  This would give us Muslims the means to engage, while at the same time retaining the Islamic values and dignity and avoid exploitation and humiliation both in this world and the next.

It is against this backdrop that we make the following statement:

Waajihatul Islammiyyah (The Islamic Front) will monitor the New People’s Partnership Government in light of their promises made to the people of this nation; keeping in mind promises made by previous Governments before were never fulfilled. Remember the promises made by the PNM? And to date, Manning have the longest list of broken promises of any leader in the Caribbean. In its 2007 election manifesto, titled ’Journey with us to the next level’, the People’s National Movement (PNM) made about 200 promises of which only 25 per cent materialised. However, in its 2010 manifesto (’Caring about you today and tomorrow’), there are no concrete promises until page 29 of the 35-page document.

We demand that these promises made by the New People’s Partnership Government, be fulfilled in the time set out in your Manifesto. Failure to do so will be met with stiff resistance. Having said that, we will also be looking very closely at your policies as it relates to the following:

·         Gay Rights and Abortion

·         Human Rights and Prison Reform

·         Sustainable development  and  the Preservation of the Environment and eco systems

·         Accessing Information and Education reform that will balance the scale of intellectual perception.

·         Public consultation and participation

·         Health and safety

·         Crime and Socioeconomic ills.

·         Emergency and disaster relief

·         The continued granting of licence to sell spirituous liquors.

·         Interest Free Housing and Medical care for Muslims especially Muslim Sisters

·         Islamic Banking and the Setting up of an Islamic Court

·         Facilitating Muslims wanting to perform Haj by forging new diplomatic and travel relations with the Saudi Government

·         The God given right of every citizen to bear arms to defend themselves.

·         Your foreign and local policy as regards laws affecting our Muslim Brothers and Sisters such as laws forbidding Muslim women to wear the Hijab and the Burka, laws forbidding the building of Minarets, and whole Body scans at our nation’s airports and check-in Points in other countries etc. and equally important your relationship with the Rogue State of Israel.

These are the policies that will stand on the threshold between your Government and Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front). These are the policies that will determine our relationship in the coming months. These are the policies that will either make or break your Government.

German Consulate's Response to Press Release

Early today I was informed by the German Consulate of the sentence handed down by the German court on Alex A. Veinz via the following email:


Dear Mr. Abdullah,
I just received the information that Alex W., who attacked and killed Marwa El-Sherbini and severely injured her husband, was today sentenced to life imprisonment. The court decided further that a premature release because of good conduct is ruled out. The court therewith followed the call of the prosecution. It was the hardest sentence possible.

I immediately responded by issuing a Press Release indicating our dissatisfaction a copy of which you would have gotten earlier. I then later received a correspondence from the German Consulate indicating the following:


Dear Mr. Abdullah,
unfortunately, I have no idea what the monitory equivalent of 100 camels is. However, please be advised that Mrs. El-Sherbini's husband as well as her son already received compensation by the Federal Republic of Germany, further support is currently under examination. Furthermore, husband and son will receive a monthly widower's pension and orphan's pension respectively. At the same time, we all know that this cannot bring back their wife and mother, who died through this horrible crime.

Response to the Sentence Given To Man Guilty of Murdering Marwa Sherbini in

Dresden, Germany.

Waajihatul Islaamiyyah does not and would not accept the life sentence given by the German court to the man - Alex W. Veinz - found guilty of murdering the Muslim Sister Marwa El-Sherbini, bearing in mind where and how this gruesome act took place.


We would accept nothing less than the death penalty or in addition to the life sentence without the possibility of release, that the family of the murdered sister be compensated by him – Alex A. - or the German Government on His behalf the monitory amount equivalent of 100 camels each for the Muslim Sister and her unborn child.


If this is not done, I will refer to my initial response and state categorically we will not be able to


guarantee the safety of any German national within the borders of our twin-island state, Trinidad and Tobago.

No flag - regardless of its size and grandeur or how high it flies - could satiate the hungry or secure the life of the weak and innocent. It’s amazing how the government can find 2 million dollars to erect a peace of cloth - an act by all human standards that is insignificant at this time - and further find close to half a million dollars over the next 10 years depending on inflation to continue to sustain this baseless rationale.


This is an indication of the vile disrespect and utter disregard this Government has for the citizens of this country. It is because of this shameful behavior on the part of the Manning Administration that we deny any guarantee to the safety of this monstrosity.


We call on all right-thinking citizens of our twin-island state to demand that the Government take down that flag and publicly apologise to the poor people of this country for this unfortunate act of wanton excess.


We call on all to demand that the Prime Minister Patrick Manning and the Sports Minister Gary Hunt to be stripped of one million dollars each in order to replace the taxpayer dollars spent in the erection of this flag.


We call on all to demand that sum carded to replace the flag every 4 to 6 months be placed in a health care fund especially for children.


No Government administration should be allowed to get away with misappropriations that allow the underprivileged and destitute to suffer as a result.
