On the heals of Ramadan Donald Trump delivers to the Muslim world what can only be described as the greatest insult to Muslims and a slap in the face of faith whilst standing on our sacred ground. Clearly it's a last desperate attempt by Shaitan; before he is chained to further divide and separate the Muslim world.

It's a shameful effort to fuel hate, animosity and discrimination within the hearts of Muslims. A pathetic business presentation at best to arouse the hearts, in an attempt to satisfy the addictions to this world and all its faults glitter; selling us a product we don't need.

This is what was actually being said for those who are deaf dumb and blind: "let's forget and not pay attention to the millions of people we -America, Israel, Britain and their coalitions - have slaughtered and the millions of lives families and homes we have destroyed. Instead let's remember and pay attention to what you the Muslims have done and the destruction you Muslims have caused in defending your lives and your homes and your lands. Let us agree that total submission to Allah - Quran and the Sunnah - should be labelled as terrorism, radicalism and fundamentalism. Let us agree that democracy should be our preferred System of governance. Let us all unanimously agree the Caliphate and or Islamic governance is a backward and decadent form of governance and that all those Muslims who call for it and is working towards achieving it should be banished, exiled or put to death." That my dear brothers and sisters is the exact interpretation of the Devil's aid and trusted Friend - Donald Trump's - speech to the Muslim world.

My dear brothers and sisters let's not be fooled by the sumber charismatic speech of this vile and despotic creature. Their main objective is to strip away from us our dignity, our identity and our culture. When this happens they will completely destroy us and devour us while we lay helpless.

LOOK FOR THE MOON FOR RAMADAAN 1431 (AH)

The 29th of Sha'baan is Tuesday 10th August, 2010.Sighting should be done after sunset of this day.

The new moon (crescent) will be born on Monday 9th August, 2010 at 11:08 pm. Sunset on Tuesday 10th August, 2010 will be at 6:30 pm. At sunset of this day, the moon will be about 19 hours 22 minutes old and Muslims are reminded to look for the crescent to commence the month of Ramadaan 1431 AH.

If the moon is sighted, the 1st Taraweeh would be performed on the night of Tuesday 10th August, 2010 and the 1st Fast would be on Wednesday 11th August, 2010.

If the moon is not sighted, Sha'baan would complete 30 days and the 1st Taraweeh would be performed on the night of Wednesday 11th August, 2010 and the 1st Fast would be on Thursday 12th August, 2010.

SHAWWAAL 1430 (AH) - EID-UL-FITR - Next Month Insha-Allah.
The 29th of Ramadaan is Saturday 19th September, 2009 Insha-Allah.
Sighting should be done after sunset of this day Insha-Allah.
The new moon (crescent) will be born on Friday 18th September, 2009 at 2:18 pm Insha-Allah.
Sunset on Saturday 19th September, 2009 will be at 6:07 pm Insha-Allah.
At sunset of this day, the moon will be about 27 hours 53 minutes old and Muslims are reminded to look for the crescent to commence the month of Shawwaal 1430 AH Insha-Allah.
If the moon is sighted then Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday 20th September, 2009 Insha-Allah.
If the moon is not sighted then Ramadaan would complete 30 days and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday 21st September, 2009 Insha-Allah.

Ramadaan The Month of the Qur'aan

There is a very good reason why Ramadaan, out of all the months in the Islamic calendar was chosen by Allah to be the month of Fasting. That reason? It was in this month, on the Night of Decree (Laylatul-Qadr), that the Qur'aan was revealed to mankind.

Allah, the Most High says: “ The month of Ramadhan in which was revealed the Qur'aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the Furqaan (criterion) [between right and wrong]. So whoever of you sights [the crescent on the first night of] the month [of Ramadhan], he must fast that month.” [Soorah al-Baqarah (2) :185]

Allah honored this month by revealing the Qur'aan in it and it is because of this that He obligated fasting in it.This is also the month in which Jibreel (alayhi as-salaam) would come to meet the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) every night in order to repeat the recitation of the Qur’aan with him. [1]. Thus, the relationship between Ramadaan and the Qur’aan is very close, which is why Muslims worldwide turn to the Qur'aan with a heightened sense of vigor during this month.

Recitation of the Qur’aan

The main purpose of the Qur'aan is to be a source of guidance for mankind, leading those who cling to it from darkness into light, from misery to happiness and raising them from lowliness to a lofty station. However, another important feature of the Qur'aan is that its recitation is in itself a form of 'ibadah' (worship). Infact the Qur'aan is defined as being the (uncreated) word of Allah, sent down to Muhammad (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) the recitation of which is a form of worship” [2] a unique definition that can be applied to no other book, writing or statement.From the very beginning of the Prophet’s Messenger-ship, great emphasis was placed on the recitation of the Qur'aan. The literal meaning of the word Qur'aan itself is 'Reading' or 'Recitation'.

The first Ayat (verse) to be revealed on that momentous occasion where Jibreel ('alayhis salaam) came to Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) whilst he was alone in the cave of Hira was: “Iqraa (Recite/Read), in the name of your lord who created you...” [Soorah al-Alaq (9): 1]

The Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) himself strongly urged his companions to recite as much of the Qur'aan as possible.

He said: “whoever reads a single letter from Allah's Book will receive a blessing (for each letter) and each blessing is worth ten times its value.” [3]

Indeed the virtues and blessings of reciting the Book of Allah are many. And by way of encouragement to all of us to spend time reciting and reflecting upon the Qur'aan, some of these virtues are listed below.

1. It will come as an intercessor on the Day of Resurrection.

The Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) said: “Recite the Qur'aan, for verily on the Day of Resurrection it will act as an intercessor for those who recite it” [4]

On the day when neither our family nor our wealth will be of any benefit to us, this Qur'aan will beseech Allah on behalf of those who recites it frequently. Allah will give it a speech and Allah is able to do all things - and it will say to Allah: “I prevented him from sleep at night, so accept my intercession for him” [5] And its intercession will be accepted.

2. Tranquility descends.

Al Baraa reported that a man was reciting Sooratul-Kahf and there was a horse tied with two ropes at his side, when a cloud overshadowed him. As it began to come nearer and nearer his horse began to take fright from it. He went and mentioned that to the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) in the morning, who said: “It was tranquility [as-Sakeenah] which came down at the recitation of the Qur'aan.” [6]

This shows us that the tranquility and the calmness which results from the recitation of the Qur'aan is not something abstract, but something very real which permeated the whole atmosphere so that even the animals can imbibe it. This 'Sakeenah' (tranquility) which descends upon the reciter is accompanied by Angels who assemble to listen to the Qur'aan. The Companion Usaid ibn Hudair mentioned to the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) that once when he was reciting the Qur'aan, he saw something like a canopy or a cloud with what seemed to be lamps contained inside. The Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) explained to him that: "Those were Angels who come near to you for your voice if you had kept on reciting till down it would have remained there till morning when the people would have seen it as it would have disappeared.” [7]

3. It will be a shade on the Day of Resurrection.

The Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) said: “Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqara and Soorah Aal-e lmraan, for on the day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds, or two shades or two flocks birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them” [8]

We are well aware that on a hot summers day when we are out in a scorching Sun, the thing we appreciate most is a tree or some sort of canopy, beneath which we can shade ourselves. Imagine how much more we will be pinning for a shade on the Day of Resurrection. When...“ the people will be submerged in perspiration according to their deeds, some up to half of their knees, some up to the waist and some would have a bridle of perspiration up to their mouths” [9].“ We seek refuge in Allah from the terrors of this awful Day.”

So these are just some of the blessing awaiting those who recite the Qur'aan as it should be recited, bringing with them a receptive heart. [10] Furthermore, these blessings and rewards are only multiplied for those who struggle in their recitation, for the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) said.''One who is skilled in it, ‘the Qur'aan’ is associated with the noble upright, recording Angels, and he who falters when he recites the Qur'aan and finds it difficult, he will have a double reward.” [11]

Of course it goes without saying, that although great emphasis and encouragement has been made to recite the Qur'aan, this is not the goal in itself. Recitation of the Book of Allah is just a means through which we can absorb its message and act on whatever that messages entails. However, reciting with the meaning is superior to merely reading as the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) explained.

He (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) said “The example of a believer who recites the Qur'aan and acts on it, is like an orange which tastes nice and smells nice. And the example of the believer who does not recite the Qur'aan but acts on it is like a date that tastes sweet but has no smell. And the example of the hypocrite who recites the Qur'aan is like sweet Basil which smells good but tastes bitter And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'aan is like a Coelacanth which tastes bitter and has a bad smell”. [12]

Companion of life:

In this month of Ramadaan, let us use it to habituate ourselves into spending a daily period with the Qur'aan - reciting, memorizing and acting upon it. Because we should know that no people are better and more worthy of our envy than the companions of the Qur'aan, [13] which is why the most striking and outstanding character of every pious person of knowledge is their love and attachment towards the Qur'aan. There is no man or woman who is considered to be righteous, except he or she is known to poses this noble quality. So when Aa’isha was asked to describe the best of al mankind, the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wa-sallam) she could find no more a suitable description other than to say that: “His character was the Qur'aan”. [14] And among the inheritors of the Prophet (i.e. the scholars) We have the example of lmaam Maalik, whose sister was asked: ”What did maalik occupy himself with in his House?” She replied, “The Mushaf (i.e the Qur'aan), reciting. [15]

Dear readers, no person can afford to remain ignorant or neglectful of the Qur'aan. Reading it regularly, sincerely not ritualistically to derive guidance from it and adopt the company of those who make mention of it in their gatherings. Make the Qur'aan your constant companion, not just for Ramadaan, but for life.

THE GREAREST JIHAD!

A Facebook friend at the start of Ramadaan 2009 made the following comment and I quote:

“The Prophet Muhammad (uwbp) said that the greatest of jihad is that for the conquest of self and this must be one of the guiding principles of fasting.”

On seeing this I immediately commented on his statement by indicating the following:

The meaning of jihad in Arabic is the exertion of one’s effort and capability. In Islam, the meaning of jihad is the exerting of one's total effort and strength in repelling the enemies of Islam and fighting them directly or by aiding those who fight them directly with wealth or other means. This is the meaning of jihad and fiy sabeel Allah when used in the Qur'an and the hadith. This is the direct meaning although there are a few instances where it is used allegorically to apply to other things.

Jihad against the self (jihad an-nafs):

The struggle against the "self" - i.e., the self which calls to evil (an-nafs al-ammaaratun bi as-suu') by denying it anything which it desires which Allah has forbidden, taking on aspects of good character and leaving the ways of foolishness and perservering in obedience to Allah even if it is difficult. This is NOT the greatest jihad and the popular hadith which says so is not authentic. It is nonetheless a vital aspect of every Muslim's practice.

Allah said: {And as for the one who fears the standing before his Lord and forbids his self its desires * Surely, paradise is his shelter} An-Naazi'aat: 40-41
But, this overcoming of the lower desires is not accomplished by our efforts, but only by the grace and mercy of Allah. When we turn to Allah in belief and obedience, He blesses us with a shield or a protection against the evil inclinations within.

Allah said: {Those who prepared the abode and the faith before them love those who migrated to them and find no need in their hearts for what they have been given and the put others before themselves even if they are in need. And whoever is protected from the avarice of his own self is surely among the successful.} Al-Hashr: 9


Further to this I expanded a bit more on the subject and sent him a message (See full text of message below).

We cannot afford to allow individuals to make statements such as these as this could have a devastating effect on how we live and practice Islam.
Never should we allow this!
We are all part of what we can say is an extension of an ideology left behind by a man [Prophet Muhammad (s)] who was the greatest to have ever walked the earth. This ideology was the light that guided the world out of the abyss of the dark ages. This ideology will reshape this country and eventually the world. This ideology carries with it the blue print that will once more break loose the shackles around us and raise the flags of true freedom. This ideology will announce the birth of a new era of leadership and governance in this twin island state of ours.
Anything we say or do can affect this either in a positive way or a negative way. Let us prayer it is never the latter…

Jihad against Shaitaan (jihad ash-shaitaan)
By opposing and repelling both the desires and the intellectual confusion with which Shaitaan tempts Allah's slaves. This jihad is even more difficult than the jihad against the kuffar since at least we can see them and assess their strengths and weaknesses. Shaitan can see us while we cannot see him and his experience at leading astray goes back thousands of years to the creation of Adam.

Allah said: {O you who believe, do not follow the steps of Shaitaan. Whoever follows the steps of Shaitaan [will find that] he commands obscenity and sin. If it were not for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy none of you could ever have kept clean. But Allah purifies who He wishes and Allah is the Hearer, the Knower.} An-Nur: 21

Jihad against the disbelievers (jihad al-kuffar)
This is to be physically fighting them under a righteous Muslim Khalifa either by direct participation in combat or by donations of wealth or other methods of supporting the struggle - including idealogical struggle. This is the greatest jihad. The Prophet (sas) said: "Fight the polytheists with your property, your lives and your tongues." Allah mentions the greatness of fighting in the path of Allah in very many places in the Qur'an. Generally, these are all references to this type of Jihad.

Jihad against the hypocrites (jihad al-munafiqeen)
This is by establishing the proofs against them and calling the Muslims to adhering to the daleel - proofs from the Qur'an and the Sunnah, educating the Muslims to protect them against such fitan and opposing their mischief in every way. It should be noted that only Allah knows the identity of the hypocrites - we only have signs. Nonetheless, we must oppose distortions of Islam by all the means mentioned.

Allah said: {O Prophet fight the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh to them. There abode is hell-fire and what an evil abode.} At-Tahreem: 9

Jihad against corrupt Muslims (jihad al-faasiqeen)
This jihad is by physical means (the "hand"), the tongue and the heart. The Prophet (sas) said: "Whoever among you witnesses wrongdoing, let him correct it with his hand. If he is unable, then with his tongue. If he is unable, then with his heart and that is the weakest of faith."

Allah said: {And fight in the path of Allah [against] those who fight you and do not transgress, surely, Allah does not love the transgressors.} Al-Baqarah: 190
{Prepare against them all forms of strength of which you are capable and ranks of horses with which you strike fear [in the hearts of] Allah's enemy, your enemy and others besides those. You do not know them, but Allah knows them. And whatever you spend in the path of Allah will be fully repaid to you and you will not be oppressed [in the least].} Al-Anfaal: 60
"Others besides those" in this verse is a reference to the internal enemy of this nation - i.e., the hypocrites, those who appear to be Muslim and practicing Islam externally but in whose hearts there is kufr and in whose actions there is mischief and destructiveness. The Muslim Ummah must be a strong and cohesive entity capable of meeting any military or other threat. This strength and unity based on the sound foundation of the Qur'an and Sunnah reflects inwardly and outwardly. It holds both the external and the internal enemy at bay and puts fear in their hearts. Without this strength, unity and means, we will continue to be afflicted by both the external enemy and the internal enemy.

The Moon and Ramadaan

NARRATOR Abdullah ibn Abbas SAHIH MUSLIM HADITH No 2391Kurayb said:

Umm Fadl, daughter of Harith, sent him (Fadl, i.e. her son) to Mu'awiyah in Syria. I (Fadl) arrived in Syria, and did the needful for her. It was there in Syria that the month of Ramadan commenced. I saw the new moon (of Ramadan) on Friday. I then came back to Medina at the end of the month. Abdullah ibn Abbas asked me (about the new moon of Ramadan) and said: When did you see it?
I said: We saw it on Friday night.
He said: (Did) you see it yourself?
I said: Yes, and the people also saw it so they observed fast and Mu'awiyah also observed fast. Thereupon he said: But we saw it on Saturday night. So we shall continue to observe the fast until we complete thirty (fasts) or we see it (the new moon of Shawwal).
I said: Is the sighting of the moon by Mu'awiyah not valid for you?
He said: No; this is how the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has commanded us. Yahya ibn Yahya was in doubt (whether the word used in the narration by Kurayb) was Naktafi or Taktafi.

NARRATOR Abdullah ibn Abbas SAHIH MUSLIM HADITH No 2392 Abul Bakhtari reported:

We went out to perform Umrah and when we encamped in the valley of Nakhlah, we tried to see the new moon.
Some of the people said: It was three nights old, and others (said) that it was two nights old. We then met Ibn Abbas and told him we had seen the new moon, but that some of the people said it was three nights old and others that it was two nights old. He asked on which night we had seen it; and when we told him we had seen it on such and such night, he said the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) had said Verily Allah deferred it till the time it is seen, so it is to be reckoned from the night you saw it.

NARRATOR Abdullah ibn Abbas AL-MUWATTA HADITH No 18.1.3:

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, once mentioned Ramadan and said, "Do not start the fast or break it until you see the new moon. If the new moon is obscured from you, then complete a full thirty days."

The advocates who use the sighting of the moon in Makkah to begin Ramadan anywhere on earth argue that a sighting in one area is binding on Muslims in other areas as well.
However, as can be seen in the preceding hadiths narrated by Muslim, and others they reject and argue against a sighting being binding on distant places. It states clearly that the Sahaba, who traveled to Syria encountered the start of Ramadan there on a Friday, upon his return to Medina, he informed Ibn Abbas that he had seen the crescent-moon on the night of Friday, and that the people in Syria, including Muawiyah the governor, had fasted on Friday. Ibn Abbas replied that they (in Medina) had seen the crescent-moon on Saturday, and that they would not stop fasting until they either saw it again, or had completed thirty days. The Sahaba said, "Will you not suffice with the sighting of Muawiyah?” Ibn Abbas replied, "No, that is how the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) commanded us.”
Also, we need to consider that just as Muslims around the world will not pray simultaneously, rather each area will pray based on the movement of the sun in their area. Thus, how could they start and end fasting simultaneously. The presence of numerous hadith on this issue only indicates that even the Companions and their later contemporaries differed about the start and end of Ramadan, such difference did not cause disunity among them, and so there is no reason why it should for us.

RULINGS FOR AL-IFTAAR (Breaking the Fast After Sunset)

When a person lawfully break his fast

Allah (T) said:

"Then complete the fasting until the night" [Baqarah 2:187]

The Messenger of Allah (S) explained this to mean the coming of the night and the going away of the day and when the disk of the sun disappears. Hastening the breaking of the fast People of Iman! It is important to hasten breaking the fast as soon as the sun sets because this was the practice of the Messenger of Allah (S) and his companions.

'Amrun Ibn Maimoon Al-Awdee said:

"The companions of the Messenger were the fastest people to break the fast (at Maghrib) and the last to eat the Sahoor (i.e. they used to try to take it at the last possible moment)." [Abdur Razaak in the Mussanaf]

Hastening to break the fast also has other benefits that can be included under this heading. Hastening to break the fast earns good.

Sahl Ibn Sa'd (R) said that the Messenger (S) of Allah (T) said:

"The people will continue to be in good condition as long as they hasten to break the fast." [Bukhaaree and Muslim]

To hasten the breaking of the fast is the Sunnah of the Messenger (S) If the Muslims hasten the breaking of the fast this would help them to keep on the Sunnah and they would be following the Salaf (Pious Predecessors) who followed it. It is known that the person who holds unto the Sunnah will never go astray.

Sahl Ibn Sa'ad said that the Messenger (S) of Allah (T) said:

"My nation would continue to be on my Sunnah as long as they do not wait for the stars to come out before breaking the fast." [Ibn Hibbaan]

Hastening the breaking of the fast is a way to he different from the Astray (the Christians) and those whom Allah is angry with (the Jews) If people will remain on what is good because they hold on to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (T), then if they leave this way and follow the Christians and the Jews they would definitely lose the good benefits. This is established in the following Hadeeth.

Abu Huraira (R) said that the Messenger of Allah (T) said:

"The Deen will be uppermost/manifest as long as the people hasten to break their fast because the Jews and the Christians delay (it)." [Abu Dawood and Ibn Hibbaan]

From the above Hadeeth we must not think that our practising this hadeeth alone would be responsible for the Deen to be manifest. This hadeeth must be understood along with all those verses from the Quraan and the Hadeeth of the Messenger (S) that deal with the issue of being different from the disbelieving people. Breaking the fast before the Maghrib Salaat. It is reported that "The Messenger of Allah (T) used to break his fast before the Maghrib Salaat." [Ahmad and Abu Dawood]

Abu Dardaa said:

"There are three signs of prophethood, hastening the breaking of the fast, delaying the Sahoor and placing the right hand on the Ieft hand in the Salaat." [Tabaraanee]

What is recommended to eat to break the fast? The Messenger (S) of Allah (T) used to incite the breaking of the fast with dates and if he did not find any, he would then break it with water.

Anas Ibn Maalik said:

"The prophet (S) used to break his fast with fresh dates before he prayed. If he did not find fresh dates then he would use dried dates. If he did not find that also he drank a few sips of water. [Ahmad and Abu Dawood]

What should be said at the time of breaking the fast? The fasting person should know that Allah (T) listens to his supplication and answers it.

Abu Huraira said the Messenger (S) of Allah (T) said:

"The supplications of three groups of people's are not rejected; the du'aa (Supplication) of the fasting person when he is breaking his fast, the du'aa of the just Imam and the du'aa of the oppressed." [Tirmidhee, Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibbaan]

So the fasting person should make use of the time when he is breaking his fast to ask Allah (T) for all those things that would make his life easy in this world and the next. However, although any Du'aa can be made at that time the Messenger (S) also used to make a specific one which we should make sure we supplicate with, along with whatever other supplication we desire.

The Messenger of Allah (S) when he broke his fast. used to say:

"The thirst has gone and the veins have recovered and the blessing is established if Allah wills" (dhahaba dhamaa'a wabtallat al-urooq wa thabatal ajr inshaa'allaah) [Ahmad, Al-Baihaaqee]

Feeding a fasting person

It is imperative for the believer to always try to do righteous deeds. From among these rightous deeds is the feeding of the fasting person because of the numerous rewards for this act.

The Prophet (S) said:

"Whoever gives someone something to break the fast with, he would have the same blessings as the fasting person and this would not reduce the blessings of the fasting person in any way" [Ahmad and Tirmidhee]

If someone is invited to break his fast then he should respond to the invitation. If he refuses then he has disobeyed the Messenger (S). It is also recommended for the person invited to supplicate for his host after finishing eating his food as was the practice of the Messenger (S).

The Messenger (S) used to make the following supplications:

"May the righteous eat your food may the angels send salaat unto you and may the fasting person break their fast with you." [Ahmad, An-Nasaaee]

"O Allah! Feed the one who fed me and give drink to him who gave me to drink" [Muslim]

"O Allah! Forgive them and have Mercy on them and bless whatever you provide for then" [Muslim]
